Mexican mint is an herb that goes by several names, including Cuban/Puerto Rican oregano, Indian borage/mint, and Spanish thyme.[1][2][3][4][5]
Characteristics
The herb is believed to be native to South-eastern Africa but has spread worldwide.[1][3] Its toothed leaves are thick and succulent,[3][4] with a flavor is similar to that of mint but also of thyme, sage, and oregano.[1][2][3][4]

Use
Mexican mint features in Caribbean cuisine, where it is used to season savory preparations like stews, sauces, and marinades.[3][5] It can also be used in Southeast Asian cuisines.[4][5]
Substitution
If you cannot get access to the herb itself, try incorporating a mixture of thyme, oregano, and sage.[4]
