File:Gallup Park Overpass A2Zero Mural.jpg

File:Gallup Park Overpass A2Zero Mural.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and if appropriate contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 20:48, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

Seattle City Light/Municipal Archives

This is tricky, and I think you've waded in without fully understanding. For example, you made this edit. That falls back to giving "Seattle City Light" as author from SDC, but (1) of course, the actual author is an unidentified City Light employee and (2) if you go to https://archives.seattle.gov/digital-collections/index.php/Detail/objects/192049, the ultimate published source of this file, you will see that the requested attribution is to the Municipal Archives, not to City Light. This appears to be how the City of Seattle (legal owner of these copyrights: remember that both City Light and the Municipal Archives are simply departments of that unitary entity) prefers to have them attributed.

No objection to compromising on something like "Seattle City Light via Seattle Municipal Archives" or some such, but you effectively removed the attribution requested by the entity that granted the license. There may be a way to improve these, but what you did is not it.

I edited this one file downstream of you, before I saw that you changed a lot of other files, so I want to work out something acceptable to both of us before moving further forward. - Jmabel ! talk 21:34, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

Ope. Looks like I missed some context there.
The whole archives-to-Flickr-to-Commons workflow is so far from optimal, and and all of the useful metadata that the archives generate gets lost in that game of telephone. I had thought that the source field as "Seattle Municipal Archives" would be enough attribution for this case, although I can't say that I know much about the Seattle Municipal Archives, because I'm half a continent away.
The approach that you took on the one file mentioned sounds like it'll work fine. Here's to hoping that we get an elegant way of handling this in SDC in the future.

Thanks I'll try to find where else you did this.
Yeah, it was confusing to me at first, too, but I've now uploaded several thousand of their images, given them back corrections of their descriptions on a few dozen, etc., so it's a pretty strong working relationship. They even contacted me in advance when they were changing their URL scheme to work out how we could avoid ending up with a ton of unresolveable dead links on Commons. - Jmabel ! talk 00:41, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
I just did this to try to make the situation clearer. Let me know if you think that should be worded differently, I may be "too close to the subject." - Jmabel ! talk 00:55, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
