Bouvetøya (tidligere Liverpool Island) er en øy i Søratlanteren på 54°25′ S 3°21′ Ø som er under norsk suverenitet som biland. Ettersom Antarktis regnes sør for 60°S tilhører Bouvetøya ikke denne verdensdelen (og er ikke omfattet av Antarktis-traktaten), men kanskje heller Afrika som ligger i underkant av 2 000 km lenger nord.

Bouvet Island is an uninhabited sub-antarctic volcanic island in the South Atlantic Ocean, south-southwest of the Cape of Good Hope (► South Africa). It is a dependent area of Norway and is not subject to the ► Antarctic Treaty, as it is north of the latitude below which claims are suspended.

Historical maps
Bouvet Island was discovered by the French explorer Jean-Baptiste Charles Bouvet de Lozier in 1739. He called it "Cap de la Circoncision", thinking it was a promontory of a larger southern continent.
It was claimed by the United Kingdom in 1825 as Liverpool Island. In 1928 Britain waived its claim to Norway, that renamed the island Bouvet Island.
