SD 5 decline with no option suggested
DId you look at the speedy criteria before doing it with comment "Flickr name, helpful in avoiding duplicate"? COM:ADVERT requirements overwhelms "convenience of recognition in flicker", especially it is of no use, considering that here is a direct link to the source provided and it's hardly beliable someone will try to upload it again taking in view it's current log. If you really aware of someone to reupload the duplicate there it's much better to restrict such a name creation instead of leaving the redirect or just to rename it to appropriate name i.e. File:NEXT15, NEXT Conference, Germany (22113166908).jpg - will it be ok for you?
Please avoid removing SD template with criteria 5 when it's clearly reasonable, at least without providing your option of resolving a criteria 5 issue. 201.150.118.26 14:39, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. Thank you for your message. The file renames were correct and helpful. However, I see no harm in keeping the old filenames as redirects since it is just an email, if it were blatant promotional or vandalism, I would completely agree with you. These can help prevent accidental duplicate uploads via tools like Flickr2Commons, which often rely on original Flickr names. If you still disagree with my decision, you are of course free to start a regular deletion request for others' input. Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 14:57, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for pointing out obvious things at current message, but when author taking his email to more thenn 800 files mostly to filenames - it clearly (restricted) COM:ADVERT and your 'since it is just an email' is not an argument here (and, in fact, nowhere as that's one of the main not just local but wikimedia policies). However I can agree with you there's no clear definition at G2 SD criteria provided (I mixed it up with renaming criteria 5) and, as I said, I will be happy with at least renaming. Still thank you for your decline for me to rethink my activity when such (probably useful) redirects have place (I'll request renaming of it instead of deleting saving i.e. flickr id, but removing COM:ADVERT). 201.150.118.26 15:20, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
Watchlist notice
Hi there. Can you please set up a watchlist notice letting folks know that there's an ongoing Checkuser candidacy (Commons:Checkusers/Requests/Lymantria). I tried to figure out how to generate a unique ID and wasn't able to figure out how to get it to work. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 03:24, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
