Images
Dear Colleague. Thank you very much for writing a defense for my photo to be deleted. Unfortunately, a group on the Hungarian Wikipedia is in favor of deletions in both articles and images. I would greatly appreciate it and thank you if you (and perhaps other friends of yours from the Global Wikipedia) would write 1-2 lines for the files (now) marked for deletion.
These are currently being deleted: , , . But recently I have been attacked for having a lot of junk in the pictures I upload (typically of Hungarian buildings, building details, public utilities, natural objects), and for that reason they will be deleted. (I believe that although my pictures are not always sharp and beautiful, they have documentary value about things in Hungary that Google Street View does not film, and sometimes there are no pictures of them on the internet.)
If you are interested, here is the discussion in Hungarian: https://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szerkeszt%C5%91vita:12akd#Commons. (I wrote my arguments there to other Hungarian editors, but they don't accept them. They only look at how aesthetic a picture is. Wikipedia is not an Art Album, where there can only be beautiful pictures of beautiful things - although those are good too, of course. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, where in my opinion there is also a place for manhole covers, garbage cans, and dilapidated parts of buildings.)
I respectfully ask you and your English / French / etc. friends who are at home in the world of Global Wikipedia to help me preserve my photographs, because due to the demolition of many buildings / changes in the environment, they will one day have historical-documentary value for Hungary.
You can see my many uploaded photos, many of them over the years, of things in Hungary, especially Budapest, here:
Thank you very much for reading, with respect: 12akd (talk) 07:29, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. I call things as I see them on Commons deletion requests, but I don't think I should try to participate in Hungarian-language Wikipedia discussions, and as a result of this kind of request, you risk being accused of canvassing.
- I do generally agree with your point of view, but Wikipedia is indeed not an art album and it is Commons and not Wikipedia that is at issue here. It's perfectly reasonable for Wikipedians to choose which Commons images to use in Wikipedia articles, but not to delete photos from Commons just because, as you say, they're of ordinary things that are not beautiful.
- You might want to rephrase this message to make it an argument only and not a request for participation on hu.wikipedia, and perhaps start a thread on Commons talk:Deletion requests or somewhere else more appropriate that I can't think of right now.
- Best,

- Hi. I expressed opinions or asked questions about some of them, but I don't think my opinions are really needed for admins to make decisions. Do you know I'm not a Commons admin? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:35, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Generally speaking admins won't close ambigious cases with 0 votes.
- There's a reason i asked you to give your input and not to actually conclude the DR Trade (talk) 04:05, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I see. Sometimes, I don't think I can give any kind of useful input or even ask a useful question, but I'm glad to do so when I can.

Old logo deletion
Hello i wanted to open the discussion on this. The reason we (brand managers from commercial businesses) request old logo deletion is because google pulls old logos from Wikipedia and this means old logos appear all over the web along with your current logo. This is damaging to commercial brands as they become inconsistent and it is confusing to audiences. This is why we request deletion of old logos to prevent this market confusion. Please consider policy change here. Could you also consider unindexing/tagging old logos so that google does not scrape them. TCSBrandTeam (talk) 14:08, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- You're not going to get a policy change by posting to a user's talk page. You could try Commons talk:Deletion policy. In any case, I will continue to strongly oppose. The options for you are to edit file descriptions and request Commons:File renaming. Memory-holing history is not a function of this site. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:08, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
Please help me
Hello Ikan Kekek, an editor desires to block me even if I have done nothing wrong. I just add evidence to contradict the accusations, thank you CNEcija12345 (talk) 11:17, 7 April 2025 (UTC).
- I'm not an admin on this site, so what would I be able to do if your allegations are true? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:11, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Vandalism
Hello; This user has vandalized the Ardebilak image page that belongs to me and arbitrarily removed the deletion tag.(Aflatooni 2050 (talk) 16:03, 30 April 2025 (UTC))
- I see that, but I am not an administrator on this site, so there is nothing I can do. If they do it again, you should start a COM:ANU thread.
- Best,

- Hi Aflatooni 2050 and Ikan Kekek: I've taken care of this, see User talk:۲۱ آذر ۱۳۲۵#Disruptive editing. Please note that you can always ask users in such cases to refrain from such edits. Every user can do this. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 18:12, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Comment
Just a side point but in my experience there's a real issue with people nominating images for deletion as COPYVIO in cases where the uploader can't realistically verify they created the photograph because of long ago the files were uploaded, them not being active anymore, Etc. Etc. Not to say I have any clue what to do about it since obviously files shouldn't get a free pass just because the uploader can't confirm the license but it is something I run into more often I'd like to. Maybe that's something to think about coming up with a policy or some kind of guideline for though. It would help mitigate a lot of the more questionable speedy deletion requests. The current way things are handled isn't necessarily fair to uploaders anyway. Like someone should have to be a lifelong contributor to not risk their files being deleted but I don't know what the alternative is with how things are currently. --Adamant1 (talk) 10:39, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- I agree with your analysis of the problem. I don't think that we should assume an upload is bad because it's someone's only upload or it was uploaded a long time ago. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:34, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
