Administratorer er brukere med den tekniske muligheten til å:

  • slette og gjenopprette bilder og andre opplastede filer, og vise og gjenopprette slettede versjoner
  • slette og gjenopprette sider, og vise og gjenopprette slettede versjoner
  • beskytte og avbeskytte sider, og redigere sider som er helt beskyttede
  • blokkere og avblokkere brukere, individuelle IP-adresser og IP-områder
  • redigere visse grensesnittbeskjeder (se også Commons:Grensesnittadministratorer)
  • endre navn på filer
  • legge til og fjerne brukergrupper
  • konfigurere UploadWizard-kampanjer
  • slette og gjenopprette visse loggoppføringer og revisjoner av sider
  • importere sider fra andre wikier
  • slå sammen historikken til sider
  • endre misbruksfiltre
  • ikke opprette omdirigeringer når sider flyttes
  • overstyre sjekk mot svartelister for brukernavn og sidetitler
  • sende meldinger til flere brukere samtidig (massmessage)
  • bruke høyere grenser i API-spørringer

Disse er kollektivt kjent som administratorverktøy.

Rolle i fellesskapet

Administratorer er erfarne og pålitelige medlemmer av fellesskapet på Commons som har tatt på seg ekstra vedlikeholdsarbeid og har fått tillit til det i avstemning. Forskjellige administratorer har forskjellige interesse- og ekspertiseområder, men typiske adminoppgaver består av å avgjøre utfallet av sletteforespørsler, slette filer med opphavsrettsbrudd, gjenopprette filer der det trengs, beskytte Commons fra vandalisme, og å jobbe med maler og andre beskyttede sider. Selvsagt kan noen av disse oppgavene gjøres også av brukere som ikke er administratorer.

Administratorer forventes å forstå målene til dette prosjektet, og være forberedt på å jobbe konstruktivt med andre for å nå disse. Administratorer bør også forstå og følge Commons' Template:Pc, og respektere konsensusen i fellesskapet der det trengs.

Bortsett fra roller som krever bruken av administratorverktøy har ikke administratorene noen spesiell redaksjonell autoritet, og i diskusjoner og avstemninger teller deres stemmer på samme måte som vanlige bidragsyteres. Noen administratorer kan ha større påvirkningskraft, men ikke på grunn av deres rolle, men fordi mange i fellesskapet stoler på dem.

Fjerning av administratorrettigheter

I følge reglene for fjerning av administrotorrettigheter kan administratorrettighetene fjernes dersom en bruker er inaktiv eller misbruker administratorverktøyene. In a de-admin request, normal standards for determining consensus in an RfA do not apply. Instead, "majority consensus" should be used, whereby any consensus to demote of higher than 50% is sufficient to remove the admin.

Stemming

Alle registrerte brukere kan stemme her, men de som ikke har noen bidrag fra før vil ikke telles. Det foretrekkes om man oppgir grunnen til at man stemmer enten  Support eller  Oppose, siden dette vil hjelpe byråkratene med å gjøre sin endelige avgjørelse. Større vekt gis til argumenter med støttende bevis dersom det trengs, enn til grunnløse stemmer.

Hi there, since my first attempt to become an admin on Commons was more than six years ago, I decided to try again. My first request was obviously declined as I lacked the necessary experience to become a trusted admin and contribute productively. Over the last six years, however, I have gained a lot more experience and have become an active contributor to Commons, with ~19,800 edits to date. In fact, I spend more time on Commons than on my home Wikipedia.

My main focus on Commons is quality assurance and deletion requests, primarily through the Commons:WikiProject Chemistry. Since March 2019, I have been a file mover and have tried to contribute in this area too.

If I am elected as an admin, I will support the current admin team by reducing the backlog, particularly with regard to deletion requests. I promise that I will use the admin tools carefully and will seek advice from more experienced admins if I am unsure about the correct approach to a particular problem. @Jameslwoodward Sorry for the delay but I was yet to decide. No red flags with Chem's work here but I am inclined to  Oppose. Not a thumbrule but I believe anyone wanting the mop should have some experience with maintenance and stuff. Maybe a patroller or LR for a while.     Hello Adamant1, first of all, thanks for your support! As already mentioned above, the lower edit count in the past weeks (or months) is mainly attributed to my (now finished) university studies. In addition, the situation of my personal real life - let's say - has changed as well so I can contribute very actively again. Regarding your concerns about my user name, I can (partly) agree. I chose my current username when I created my account on Wikimedia in 2018 and didn't think much about readability/spelling or other things at that time. Perhaps it would be a good idea (and also a good restart as an admin) to change my username to something a bit simpler, e.g. just ChemSim. But I think that's a discussion for another time. Aside from the file moving, ChemSim hasn't caught my attention yet, and that's only because I noticed that he often moves files without creating a redirect or asking for them to be deleted.     Hi Incall, I'm aware of and have read Commons:Licensing as well as Commons:License review, although I'm not a license reviewer as you are. However, I will strongly live these guidelines and, if the situation demand, seek advice from an experienced license reviewer before blindly accepting or rejecting a file based on the provided license. Personally, I'm a strong supporter on creating my own files rather than uploading external files. In addition, it's very important to me that the files uploaded to Commons are properly licensed or public domain (e.g. basic drawings like my own chemical structures in chemistry).     Hello Chuck, thanks for your question. At the moment, I'm mainly contributing as a file mover and in cleaning up files, e.g. like Category:Media missing infobox template. However, being elected as an admin would provide me with the possibility to actively contribute in solving the backlog in deletion requests. As an admin, I can support the team and Commons community in closing DRs. Nevertheless, I will stay active as a file mover and in my current roles since I really like administrative work here on Commons. Hope this answers your question.     @GPSLeo: Yes, definitely. In the past, I have witnessed several of such cases in my own working area, the WikiProject Chemistry, where long term contributors with high upload/contribution record like User:Claudio Pistilli and User:Edgar181 had to be blocked for different reasons. I'm convinced that Commons should stay a place where users from all over the world can contribute with their specific content provided that guidelines and rules are maintained.     @Hekerui: Hello Hekerui, thank you for your question. I see that the image has been licensed as public domain in India as it was created in 1954 and copyright in India expires after 60 years, i.e. it has been in the public domain in India since 2014. In terms of US copyright, which is often more complex than in India, {{PD-1996}}, for example, is not applicable as the image, although first published outside the US, was not in the public domain in the country of origin on January 1, 1996. Furthermore, other US licenses do not seem to fit in this case either. For me, this means that the image is not public domain in the US at the moment. Thanks RoyZuo for catching this. I have to clearly distance myself from this post. In the past, I have never had any contact with User:HingWahStreet either here on Commons or privately. Especially the wording "vote for" cleary indicates a supportive vote rather than informing the community about an ongoing admin candidacy. I'm also surprised that User:HingWahStreet changed his vote from "Pro" to "Neutral" to "Weakly Pro". Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 10:51, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
