Details of this sculpture in Taiwan

Do you have any information about the year / authorship of this indoor sculpture? Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 05:38, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

@JWilz12345 I couldn't find the year and author for this sculpture, the only information I found is the statue was donated by local teachers and students to the library when it inaugurated in 1971, per this National Library website article. Tvpuppy (talk) 05:55, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Perhaps I'll leave it as it is for now. "Donation" may had been made before that year. Thanks for the response. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 06:08, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello again. How about the two artworks in Fu Jen University station?
Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 01:33, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
@JWilz12345 I tried but I couldn't find any info about those artworks. I doubt they are copyright-free anyway. Tvpuppy (talk) 05:42, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. Will nominate these shortly afterward. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 06:09, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello again. How about the Guanyin statue at Category:Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area? The only sources I immediately searched online give an account that isn't relevant to its origins; it was heavily-damaged in a 2015 typhoon and was later demolished, prompting anger from many religious residents; the authorities then promised to erect a new statue of the same goddess, with insufficient funding as the mere obstacle to the rebuilding. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 07:13, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
@JWilz12345 According to this news article in 2015 , it states the statue was erected 28 years ago, this means it is erected around 1987 to 1988. However, it only stated it was commissioned by the local township office (鄉公所), it didn’t state who the designer/creator was. Tvpuppy (talk) 07:44, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello again. Can you find info about the tiger sculptures under Category:National Chung Cheng University? Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 14:15, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
@JWilz12345 Hi, are you referring to the statue in File:嘉義縣民雄鄉 國立中正大學 - panoramio (26).jpg? The only useful info I found about it is from this 2012 blog: . The content was from a 2011 news article that does not exist anymore. According to the article, the statue was part of a series of cat statues commissioned by the local township office (seen here ). They were placed along the “newly” completed cycle lane, which was completed back in 2011. So, the statues were most likely completed in 2011, along with the cycle lane. Tvpuppy (talk) 19:56, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
Yes, those statues. I'll perhaps will nominate those images later. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:40, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello again, how about this sculpture? File:金雞報曉藝術像.jpg. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 09:11, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
@JWilz12345 Hi, according to these websites , , the creator of the sculpture is Hsieh Tong-liang (謝棟樑), who is still alive. The locations mentioned are different because he made the same sculpture for multiple locations. Anyways, the sculpture in the image was created in 2001 (90th year of ROC), according to the text engraving below. Tvpuppy (talk) 13:42, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. Will nominate the image very soon. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:01, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello again. Can you check the Confucius statues in these images: File:北勢國小 孔子像 - panoramio.jpg and File:大華中學 德賢樓^孔子像 - panoramio.jpg? Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 06:09, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Hello @JWilz12345. I can’t find any specific info about the statues themselves, but I found info about their location.
Since there isn’t any information about the statues, based on the info above and COM:PCP, I have to assume they are less than 50 years old, hence they are still copyrighted. Tvpuppy (talk) 22:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll nominate these images later. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:23, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Question: may you be interested in license review work?

Hello Tvpuppy, we met by happenstance on deletion requests, afterwards, I asked for insights from you on some other DR. These encounters gave me the feeling that you fully endorse our project goals and that you have a good grasp on licensing and copyright questions. I would be really happy to give you my support if you would happen to offer some help to the license reviewer crowd - could I entice you in opening a candidacy for it here: Commons:License review/Requests? Kind regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 13:14, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello @Grand-Duc, thank you for your kind words and appreciation. This is my fourth month being active here, so I still consider myself a newcomer in Commons, hence it means a lot to hear that I have the support of a long-time contributor like you. To be honest, I haven’t considered going into license review yet, currently I am still exploring all the things I can do in Commons (surprisingly there is a lot). Nonetheless, I will now start looking into the license review process, and I think maybe in a couple months, when I am ready for it, I will then put in a request for becoming a license reviewer.
Once again, thank you very much for your offer. Tvpuppy (talk) 16:37, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
Aye! Then I shall patiently wait for and look forward to when you feel yourself ready. :-) Kind regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 19:15, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 19:27, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Thank you as well for granting me the autopatrol right. Tvpuppy (talk) 19:37, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
You're welcome, please read COM:OW for overwriting guidelines. Abzeronow (talk) 19:43, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi. You could have just modified the g7 request based on the previous edit, which clearly qualified. Please be more careful.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 05:17, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for modifying it. Apologies for not noticing the delete request by the uploader in the previous edit, I will be more careful next time. Thank you for the reminder as well. Tvpuppy (talk) 06:12, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

French TV and TV shows logos

Hello Tvpuppy,

All these logos files are under copyrights and protected trademark in France, because they have been created by the well known artist Étienne Robial. More, these creation are using copyrighted fonts specially created by the same author. The only way to publish them is to import in fr.wikimedia.org wich is admissible (eg. another Canal+ logo there) -> note the clear warnings not to export to Commons : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Canal%2B_HD_France.svg

Regards. Tisourcier (talk) 00:15, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for letting me know. Initially, I thought those logos might appeared to be simple enough to be under COM:TOO France, so I converted them to normal DR to clarify if they are indeed eligible for copyright, hence not able to be kept in Commons. Your explanation makes sense, I understood the situation surrounding them better now. Tvpuppy (talk) 02:16, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Jitra?

Why do you claim it's made at Jitra if coordinates you provided it ostensibly made at is no more then address from the advertisement (telling where exactly that company office had place), but according to much later google street view there's no any 3-storey buildings nearby there address (I "searched" whole the area)... Ohhoho ))) How did you found that exact 3 storey building??? )) Are you familiar with that city or place? How?? used some AI? Or knew where exactly SSW was formerly located? ) 201.150.118.26 09:18, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

No, I just searched using Google Map, just like you mentioned above. The initial search for the address didn’t bring me to the correct location, but I felt it brought me to the general area. Then, I just searched for “tyres shops” near the area and used Streetview to pinpoint the exact building. Tvpuppy (talk) 12:12, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
Ahhahah ) so simple ) Thank you ) I have to use your way next time.
I used much harder way to find it but failed.
First I tried to street map it going through the road (but not searching anything more), then I decided it's some official SSW retailer and finalized on that page where I look into Kedah affiliate that is at totally different 2-story building and mixed it (current picture) up with Selangor retailer's 3-story building, but after streetmapping it finally gave up.
It looks like sometimes simple way is the best ) Thank you. 201.150.118.26 14:56, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

A Barnstar for you!

I am amazed by the soundness of your information provisioning. Grand-Duc (talk) 00:37, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

I feel like Special:Diff/1030861536/1030956646 is really valuable in its current topic. Thank you! :-) Grand-Duc (talk) 00:37, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for the barnstar! Tvpuppy (talk) 00:51, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

License reviewer

Hello Tvpuppy, Have you considered going for license reviewer? You have the skills, and we can always use the help! All the Best -- Chuck Talk 04:27, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello @Alachuckthebuck, thank you for the offer and recognition. Actually I started considering and looking into it two months ago when Grand-Duc also offered me to go for license review. Currently, I still wanted to gain a bit more experience before putting in the request, but I feel I’m getting closer to being ready each day. I think in around 1-2 months, I will be ready to go for it. Thank you for asking. Tvpuppy (talk) 05:27, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Deletion request, helpful comment

Hello Tvpuppy,

wanna try your hand at closing Commons:Deletion requests/File:Wikimedia Summit 2022 K1.jpg? Non-admins are also entitled to close discussions when keeping the file is the single sensible outcome: Commons:Deletion requests#Closing discussions. Here, the rationale "copyvio-derivative" disappeared because you managed to spot the underlying work. Nobody should object, as we're both the actual nominators for deletion (my speedy, your standard DR). Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 14:28, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

Sure, I will try it out. Thanks for letting me know. Tvpuppy (talk) 15:39, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

Deletion request, language help?

Hello Tvpuppy, I communicated with a fellow Wikimedian in Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Ch2ems, me using English and Google Translate, and him using simplified Chinese. Do you eventually have the time to check whether the machine translation removes finer parts of relevant expressions? The gist I've gotten is that he's engaged with local sport associations, is photographing and providing media for these clubs (in parallel to Commons) and maybe his social media presence, uses several (also high levelled) cameras and has a bit of struggling with cloud storage services. Do you think that my points of providing sufficient creation history and preferentially EXIF got through? Just asking, as relying on machine translators has its negative points... Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 00:12, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

@Grand-Duc For the point about creation history, I checked the Google translation and it is a bit confusing so I translated your point to them again. For the point about the EXIF, I think they did understand since they explained why the photos didn’t have EXIF, and they said they will pay more attention when uploading in the future.
Also, I think you got the gist but just in case the translation didn’t make sense, their explanation was that they posted the photos on social media and also backed up their photos on the cloud storage. However, they were using the free version of the cloud storage, so the download speed was very slow. That’s why it’s more convenient for them to just download it from their social media, hence the lack of EXIF. Tvpuppy (talk) 02:18, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
