I would like to nominate Mpaa for the position of administrator on Wikisource. He is a constant source of help, rational advice, and knowledgeable in the use of the necessary programming tools required for maintenance. He is active and contributes on a regular basis. — Ineuw talk 19:24, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

  • support has been doing excellent work through the site and more recently with MpaaBot (talkcontribs), totalling >12k edits for both; and use of the tools would allow the tasks being undertaken to be done more easily, eg. no need to add {{sdelete}} when demonstrated capability to make that decision correctly. Valued contributor. — billinghurst sDrewth 06:02, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
  • Support, both Mpaa & Ineuw have been doing great work on the project, the extra tools would be good for either of them. JeepdaySock (talk) 11:33, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Mpaa (talkcontribs) activity Global

Hi all,

We've had three bureaucrats since 2011, and in my view this is the right number for our site. With the recent loss of BirgitteSB we are down to two, so I would like us to look at promoting a new 'crat. I have had a brief email discussion with Billinghurst on this, and amongst some good candidates in terms of character and conduct, Mpaa floated to the top as someone who also has a good knowledge of bots. This is seen as valuable because the current 'crats are handling admin nominations and confirmations just fine, but have not been very active in bot approvals / confirmations.

Hesperian 02:45, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

I am glad to accept the nomination. Thank you for considering me as a possible candidate.— Mpaa (talk) 16:57, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

  • Asking the candidate: How would you expect to be an active bureaucrat for the next year? If you and all other bureaucrats become inactive for several days, after how many days would you like to allow any disinterested steward to temporarily take over? This did happen on Wikimedia Commons once a few years ago with more bureaucrats.--Jusjih (talk) 00:07, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
With the same level of engagement I had so far as admin (i.e. frequent monitoring but with on and off periods due to RL, sometime of several weeks). Maybe it is obvious, but I cannot guarantee any kind of "SLA" here, so if there are such urgent issues that the local group cannot manage, external support is welcome as soon as such situation will happen.— Mpaa (talk) 09:34, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

As nominator I would prefer to recuse from closing this. However the discussion is clearly finished, the outcome is clear, I have not been able to flush out our other 'crat, and there is precedent for me to act in such situations.

I grant that they are usually quick and easy, but if there are issues to be cited, they need not wait for an annual confirmation process. For admins with steady activity, I would rather have a process such as this every two or three years. BD2412 T 19:10, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
