Wikibooks talk:Semi-protection policy
Make as a part of the general protection policy
This is an interesting idea. There are a number of pages that are currently "protected" that I would like to see moved to semi-protection status. I've gone and "protected" a couple of pages that seem to have been a target of recent vandalism that in particular would be useful to move under this general umbrella.
BTW, what is the specific technical requirement in order to accomplish this task? Do we need to ask the developers to "upgrade" MediaWiki for Wikibooks to get this feature? I don't see any ability to semi-protect any pages currently on Wikibooks.
This policy proposal also needs to be modified slightly to fit the terminology for Wikibooks (modules, not articles, and Books of the Month instead of featured articles) and there are a few unique aspects for Wikibooks that may need to review the policies to fit this project as opposed to how things are done on Wikipedia. Not a bad idea though. --Rob Horning 04:21, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. We don't need to have this as a separate policy, only as an addition to the current protection policy. Maybe somebody should try merging this in to a proposal, and we can vote on it. --Whiteknight(talk) (projects) 16:47, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Move to Reject, merge to Wikibooks:Protected page
I am moving to reject this proposal, and merge anything that is salvagable (if anything is) to Wikibooks:Protected page. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 21:35, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

- I don't really have an opinion either ways, but you might want to look at the protection log... a lot of pages have been protected over the past several days. --SB_Johnny | talk 22:42, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Protecting a page, or unprotecting a page are subject to Wikibooks:Protected page. This policy is essentially a fork of that policy, and therefore can be rejected. The pages that have been protected in the last couple days don't really have anything to do with this, that I can see. --Whiteknight (talk) (projects) 00:52, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Semi-protection
How do I enable Semi-protection for all pages with MediaWiki?
- I'd have thought it would be easier to simply not allow IPs to edit rather than trying to protect the pages. In other words, set group "all" to NOT have the rights createtalk, createpage and edit. Unusual? Quite TalkQu 14:10, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
