merge

I suggest merging together the books Materials in Electronics, Semiconductor Electronics, and Semiconductors. As far as I can tell, all of them focus almost entirely on the same topic. (That topic is: how integrated circuits are built, starting with pure silicon wafers, and applying doping operations, etc.). "Materials in Electronics" sounds like the broadest title, so that sounds like it would be the best title for the merged book. --DavidCary (discuss • contribs) 02:56, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

I do not think that merging either Semiconductors or Semiconductor Electronics into Materials in Electronics is a good idea.

"Semiconductors" and "Semiconductor Electronics" seem to be covering close to the same material: explaining the function of transistors, diodes, etc. from an electrical engineering perspective. ("Semiconductors" and "Semiconductor Electronics" probably should be merged.)

"Materials in Electronics" seems to be heading towards deriving the electrical properties of semiconductors from their physical origins and maybe explaining how transistors (etc.) make use of these properties.

While related, the topics covered are quite different. I also don't think most people looking for a book on semiconductor electronics will really want to read about applied quantum mechanics. --79.246.111.18 (discuss) 23:12, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
