Name of Norwegian languages
Who has decided that Norwegian Bokmål should now be called "Norsk"? It was earlier called "Norsk Bokmål".
It is discriminating to select that one of the two equal and official writing norms of Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk), the Bokmål, should be the one norm considered to be "Norsk".
Who took the decision, and where was it discussed in advance? Madglad (talk) 01:08, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- The language codes in a central file for Mediawiki was corrected, ie made in accordance with IANA registry for language codes, and as a consequence the language name for nowiki got changed. The longterm fix isn't to change the language name as some believe, the longterm fix is to correct the invalid language code used by nowiki. It is possible to make a temporal fix, but as it seems right now it won't be possible to do the necessary changes. Jeblad (talk) 01:23, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- I guess you mean this file: http://www.iana.org/assignments/language-subtag-registry/language-subtag-registry
- Looks sensible enough, but before the rollout a solution should have been found. An easy workaround(?) : The word "Norsk" is not in the file anyway, so the name is translated anyway.
- The best would of course be, if the nb-wiki had been called nb from the start. Madglad (talk) 02:06, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- Translations are in the CLDR. Please check out the old discussions. Jeblad (talk) 02:28, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
- The Norwegian (bokmål)-project should be moved to the correct domainname (languagecode): nb.
- None of the written forms of Norwegian have the right to call themselves «Norwegian» per se. This is an error that have to be fixed as soon as possible, as it violates Norwegian law.
- There is a very little minority in Norway (less than 1-2 percent) that want to write in a language called «Riksmål», that is a Danish-Norwegian pidgin, and they are afraid they cant do that anymore if the domain is fixed, and the project-name is correctly changed. Thats the reason for why this hasn’t been done earlier.
- Please make the change as soon as possible. BLÆGG (talk) 14:48, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

I need some help to find the right place to change the frases "normalformer" and "Hvordan man bruger" of the Danish Wikipedia, see the screenshot. I have tried at translatewiki.net, but I can't seem to find it. Weblars (talk) 10:52, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- These titles come from the source code of jquery.ime on GitHub. You can either submit a patch for jquery.ime, or just write what they should be here and we will update it. Amir E. Aharoni {{🌎🌍🌏}} 11:06, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for the answer. I only need help to change "normalformer" to "Brug translitteration". I have changed the other frase at translatewiki.net. Submitting a patch is too advanced for me, so I would be glad if someone could do this for me. A reason (in Danish) for the change is given on the Village pump of the Danish Wikipedia.
