How to see my authored tasks?

I can't find them under Profile -> Tasks where I expected them. I also can't find a filter for task creation in Recent Activity -> View all so that page also can't show my tasks. Prototyperspective (talk) 17:43, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

@Prototyperspective: If logged in, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/authored/ will show you your authored tasks. More generally, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/G8WL7Eibw23S/#R will work for everyone (and you can edit the search field to pick a different user, or filter them e.g. by status). Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 19:40, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! I think a link to that would be good to add to Profile -> Tasks. Prototyperspective (talk) 20:13, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

No estimation field for administrative request type of tasks

I don't know what this new type is for, but we recently got one on our sprint board and I was not able to add an estimate to it. We estimate all tasks on our board, so this is a problem. Nikerabbit (talk) 06:59, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

"Administrative Request" has been around for at least five years and numerous forms use it. :) Assuming we're talking about T379419, that seems to be about form 115 in Phab. I've now changed "Final Story Points" from "Hidden" to "Visible". AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 11:28, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
I still see no option to set story points for it. Example: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/380785/ Nikerabbit (talk) 06:38, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
@Nikerabbit Uhm, looks like that task used https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/transactions/editengine/maniphest.task/view/39/ instead of form 115, sigh... I also made "Final Story Points" visible for that form now. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 18:00, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Nikerabbit (talk) 12:20, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Name change

Hi, I want to rename my name in Phabricator also to „Zolgoyo“, would it be possible? Zolgoyo (talk) 19:33, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi, there is no Phabricator account which is linked to a MediaWiki SUL account named "Zolgoyo". AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 23:52, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF) This is the account. Zolgoyo (talk) 18:19, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
PS: Is it possible to delete account? If yes, this is a better way. I don't want to have a account or create a different one. Zolgoyo (talk) 18:32, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
The account has been active so we will not delete it as that destroys the activity history. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:08, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF) Can I change the E-Mail there? Zolgoyo (talk) 16:39, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Yes, in your settings. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:01, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Remane request

Hi, I would like to rename myself to 阿南之人 (as same as my wiki name) in Phabricator. 阿南之人 (talk) 12:13, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

See Phabricator/Help#Using your global wiki account: your user name cannot contain non-ASCII characters. (Next time please also tell your current Phabricator user name, it makes finding your account much easier.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 09:59, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
@Tacsipacsi My user id is 36097 while my username is 3301796. I would rename angry_sovietball now. 阿南之人 (talk) 10:02, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Rename reuqest

Please, rename me to my Wikiname: Kylaix. Thanks! Kylaix (talk) 22:04, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

@AKlapper (WMF)
I'm sorry for interruption, but hope you can help with that.
Thank you! Kylaix (talk) 05:36, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Hi, done now.
(Bonus points to anyone who can tell me how to get notified about every change on this very talk page, which worked with the "Flow" page before but does not seem to work with the "StructuredDiscussions" page this is now.) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:53, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Ooo, I will take this bonus points :)
Try to use Convenient Discussions. It works really well with the notifications, but sometimes (if you participate in many topics) you will be overpinged.
Anyway, thank you very much for renaming :) Kylaix (talk) 15:53, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

@~aanzx Hi, You mention some project tag in Phabricator and also stuff about your Phabricator account (?). What is your question? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:51, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
You are free to change the associated LDAP account for https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Anoop/ at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/external/ . We do not delete Phabricator projects. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 13:02, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF), Thanks for replying, accounts linked on phabricator is correct but as mentioned in phab:T319500 , on striker my phabricator account is linked to Minato826 developer account, I guess it cant be changed. --~aanzx · · © 07:21, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
That's a question for a Striker place, I'd say. :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:28, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

Rename request

Hi, could my account be renamed the same as my wiki account: “Danÿa”? Thanks in advance. Danÿa (talk) 12:18, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

@Danÿa Hi, unfortunately Phabricator does not support non-latin letters, you will need to choose an another username to use on Phabricator. Taavi (talk!) 12:30, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
Ah bummer 😦, is “Danya” available? Danÿa (talk) 12:36, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

Change in MediaWiki-Watchlist ownership in Phabricator

The Growth team was previously the maintainer of the Watchlist, but the Moderator Tools team is now the maintainer:Maintainers List change.

Can we make a silent change to remove the Growth-team tag from Watchlist tasks?

I've already updated recently reported bugs and issues, but there is a LARGE backlog of Watchlist tasks that aren't urgent. Rather than overloading the Moderator Tools team with 200+ old Watchlist tasks or spamming people subscribed to every Watchlist task, I'm wondering if I can get help running a silent Phab update:

  1. Remove MediaWiki-Watchlist from this Herald rule: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/H437 (so we don't bombard the Moderator Tools team with 200+ old Watchlist tasks)
  2. Silently remove Growth-team from all MediaWiki-Watchlist tasks.
  3. Re-add MediaWiki-Watchlist to this Herald rule: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/H437 (so the Moderator Tools team is automatically tagged on any new tasks, and added to any old task that gets updated.

Thanks! -- KStoller-WMF (talk) 02:33, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Should Growth-Team-Filtering also be included in the same silent removal? Pppery (alt) (talk) 22:27, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
Ah, good point. Yes, ideally we are also silently removing the Growth-Team-Filtering from all MediaWiki-Watchlist tasks. KStoller-WMF (talk) 21:15, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
I'm going to do this now via a silent batch-edit. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:52, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Setting up Herald rules

Hi there!

I would like to set up Herald rules for related project boards. I saw that you mentioned not setting up personal herald rules due to performance reasons in the Help page, but I would like to confirm that applies to team/board level rules. Similarly, if team level rules are acceptable (eg: when task is added to X board, also add it to Y board for visibility), then I would like guidance on how to set them up.

For more information, I specifically would like the #MW-Interfaces-Team tag to be added to all tasks that are added to:

  • MediaWiki-REST-API
  • MediaWiki-Action-API
  • ApiFeatureUsage
  • MediaWiki-MergeHistory
  • MediaWiki-Page-deletion
  • MediaWiki-Revision-deletion
  • MediaWiki-Core-Hooks
  • WMF-JobQueue

This would allow us to get rid of manual workflows to review and reconcile our areas of ownership. It would also be nice if I could self-manage these rules, as our team responsibilities and maintenance ownership does tend to change over time. HCoplin-WMF (talk) 13:17, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

@HCoplin-WMF: You can use @ASarabadani (WMF)'s excellent Phabricator-maintenance-bot for this, which is what we use for Abstract, without load on the Phab servers. The rules are configured at https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/ladsgroup/Phabricator-maintenance-bot/-/blob/master/project_grouper.py?ref_type=heads. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 14:09, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Amazing. This should work. Thank you for the guidance! I will edit that directly. HCoplin-WMF (talk) 14:12, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Please delete my account so I can re-register with new email

Hi, currently when I log in Phabricator attempts to verify an old email I no longer have access to. Please delete my account (Pinguinn) so I can register with my new email. Thanks! Pinguinn (talk) 21:44, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

@Pinguinn Done; feel free to re-register. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:47, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

I'm filing an appeal to "Account Disabled" message

When I access Phabricator, I'm greated with the "Account Disabled" message. I'm filing here an appeal to that deactivation. Regards, Agusbou2015 (talk) 19:41, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

xref User talk:Agusbou2015#Phabricator account disabled. Taavi (talk!) 19:50, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
(non-Phab-admin comment) The disabling was entirely correct - you were using Phabricator as a support venue for a third-party website, which it isn't and never has been, and did so even after a warning. * Pppery * it has begun 20:49, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Bulk Edit

Hello! I recently joined as EM for the MediaWiki Interfaces team. I would like to move tasks from one Milestone (Sprint) to another one in Phabricator.

Is the Bulk Edit the appropriate way of doing it? If yes, can someone from acl*phabricator give me the acl*Batch-Editors permission?

Thank you! OWResch-WMF (talk) 06:35, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

@OWResch-WMF Done! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:28, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

Add a subscriber to a task form

Hello, I'd like to be added as a subscriber to the WMF Research Request form in Phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/transactions/editengine/maniphest.task/view/120/ I am the new Design Research manager, and would like to get notified each time as soon as someone creates a new research request. :@AKlapper (WMF) Is this the place and are you the person to ask? Thanks!  Preceding unsigned comment added by DKumar-WMF (talkcontribs) 14:16, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
