Exited the browser when using this tool
I was using my iPad to translate an article from English to Chinese when the screen suddenly blackened, and then I was out of my browser. This happened for nearly ten times. Please solve this problem or I can’t finish my translation. Thanks.—203.145.95.129 11:28, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

Inability to include an edit summary
Dear developers. Today I was reminded once again why I do not use the Content Translation tool happily. It does not let one save an edit summary while saving the article. How can I participate in a drive that uses a hashtag? I should be able to do this. Frustration. If you fix this, I might come back.--Jetam2 (talk) 17:47, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- The process also reminds me of some of the memes where it says how AI is taking over the work we like doing and we trained for (in this case translation) but does not help us with chores we do not like doing like washing dishes (in this case working with references). The references in the translation were sometimes missing, many times incomplete so I had to spend a considerable amount of time adding, editing and double-checking them. Compare: original, translation before and after.--Jetam2 (talk) 18:26, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Problems in Iban Content Translation
Hi, I notice several problems while trying to do translation using the Content translation tool.
1) References
The references don't show up (or in gray colour) unless you put something on it like a space. Compared to Malay Content Translation, the references just appear automatically (and in blue colour). Several templates, like cite web template don't work even if we link the template to the Wikidata database. During translation, one might need to add in the template manually to fix the issue and it could be so tedious.
2) Template
Some templates don't show up in Iban translation, although the templates exist in both languages. We have to manually edit the template right after the translated article is published, and it is not a convenient process.
3) Autotranslate feature
Even Iban is now in Google Translate, the feature is not enabled yet in Iban language. Although it is not t a major issue, I would appreciate if this feature is enabled.
I hope these matters can be resolved soon to improve the experience of editing using this tool. Song GK (talk) 05:27, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Full translation at once
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I'll try anyway. What can I do to translate an entire page (from English to Spanish, specifically) at once? Because every time I try to translate a page, I can only do it section by section. I ask this because I often see how other users translate entire pages in one go. Azozoalis (talk) 20:38, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for using the tool, @Azozoalis. Which type of device are you using for translation?
- Translating the whole contents of an article is the default when using the tool to create an article on desktop. On mobile, the translation experience is supported by working section by section. For the mobile context with smaller screen sizes, and potential shorter activity spans the use of sections was working better to structure the work.
- On desktop when translating an article that already exists, both modes are available as of now. You can expand the existing contents with a new section (recommended), or overwrite the whole article with a new translation (only for cases where overwriting is not causing relevant content loss).
- Hope this helps. Pginer-WMF (talk) 16:32, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Problem in publishing translated article
With greetings and respect, I have translated Hamid Mahmoudi's article into Persian, but I encountered a problem when publishing it and it displays the message "Translated by Google", even though I did not translate with Google. - Hi,
- I've occurred the same problem. I didn't use any machine translation and even changed the default to start with an empty paragraph due to personal preference and yet I'm being told that my translation is machine assisted. I've checked the page you linked and honestly, I'm not entirely sure but it wouldn't be unlikely.
- I originally used the method said in the reply below by @Joostik with no effect whatsoever in fixing this. آتور (talk) 21:31, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @יוסי 700 and @Daniel lorano the publishing problem you mentioned, is it related to this reported bug? UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 23:29, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Just a general remark: when publishing an article, the default should be "publish on your personal user page" rather than as "new page". You then can go through the page, and specifically the source page, for any errors. Only THEN publish as a Wikipedia page. Joostik (talk) 10:05, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
Too many untranslated - all work goes to /dev/null
While I understand the sentiment behind limiting untranslated ratio but right now when the translation is good enough to create a draft on my page (since the visual editor in the translation engine makes extremely annoying and hard to fix formatting errors) it's not possible, and there seem to be no export of the source either, so the whole translation (which contained plenty of work since I had to read everything and fix translation mistakes) is lost (vendor-locked into the visual editor). There are limits of the translation, and the editor is annoying, but doesn't seem to be trivially possible to edit the source. All work lost. Never again. Grin (talk) 11:20, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- You can cheat by artificially lowering the uncorrected ratio by mass search and replace a common word (like a particle), publish to your personal draft page, then mass change them back again. Joostik (talk) 14:37, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Same problem here. I also solved by worsening the automatic translation, save it and rewriting it again. This almost doubles the amount of work. S.vecchiato (talk) 07:14, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's crazy. I've just translated an article from catalan to esperanto. apertium doesn't work at all. However I choose Google the tool first provides the unchanged text. I must ask a second time google to get a translation. And when I was finished checking the translation, I can't save my work because "more than 96 % was unchanged". I'm sorry but google works rather well. What can I do? Introducing errors to get out ? --Agloforto (talk) 06:48, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

Remove all sources
Could you develop a one-click tool to remove all references? In some language versions, like the NL-Wikipedia, it is considered bad usage to simply copy all refs without reading them personally. Removing them by hand sometimes takes a lot of work, and if you forget any, the remaining references cause this annoying problem of you randomly skipping to the end of the text while working on it, and then having to search for the point where you were working again.
If anyone wants to keep the references they can actually read them (!!!) and put them back in the text.Joostik (talk) 14:32, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Automatic editing filters
I've been trying to publish my translation to portuguese of the article "Boots", about a poem by Rudyard Kipling. Even though I haven't added anything special other than what's on the original article, I can't publish my translation: the error message "Os filtros automáticos de edições identificaram conteúdo problemático na sua tradução. Detalhes: Conteúdo e/ou resumo indevido relacionado ao corpo humano" pops up. This could be roughly translated to "The automatic editing filters identified problematic content in your translation. Details: Improper content and/or summary related to the human body". I have revised the entire article - which isn't very long - and I couldn't find anything that could be considered improper. How can I stop the filter from doing what it's doing? Sbraatzz (talk) 17:47, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

I can't translate some sections
Greetings. I have a problem not only in one article, but in every article I try to translate from English to Georgian - it won't let me translate and/or upload any sections like "notes", "references" or "selected bibliography"; once I translate the headline of these types of sections, I simply cannot proceed. These types of translations are probably not supported from English to Georgian. Ninuc10 (talk) 13:29, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Unreliable on mobile devices
On previews, interlanguage links are invisible in previews even with correct formatting, contradicting a purpose of translation itself. Furthermore, attempting to add any tag has a chance to display an introductory pop-up that cannot be closed through any of its buttons, forcing a refresh of the page. This leads into another issue: refreshing the page or leaving the tab inactive for just a moment sends the user to a “Continue translation” prompt; clicking this button leads to a loading screen of seemingly infinite duration, and another refresh reveals that any progress made by the user has been removed.
Please consider the addition of an autosave feature. SapphirePimpernel (talk) 22:37, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Lots of bugs with named references
Hello team and happy new year!
Once we've edited a reference (i.e. specify the language code of a source, correct mismatchs of parameters...), every single time this source is used more than once in the article, bugs are generated in the translated text.
Please check this example. 47k (2/3 of the article) needed to be removed from the generated text!!
This is very annoying, can you please check what's going on and correct it?

Frustrating 95% filter when translating from English into Spanish
After having translated the whole article "Scotch marine boiler" (that was suggested for me to translate in my mainpage after logging in), i cannot publich it, because "Tu traducción no se pudo publicar porque contiene demasiado texto sin modificar." as some paragraphs have 95% or more automatically translated text nor modified. But the fact is: Automatically translated text is very good, so it doesn't need to be modified. So? How do we solve this? PabloKWiki (talk) 20:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- In a case where the automatic translation in the Wikipedia you are translating to has improved, making the current machine translation limit very strict. You can discuss adjusting the limit with the Wikipedia community in the village pump.
- In deciding how strict the automatic translation should be, your community should consider different samples of the automatic translation as case studies and agree on a suitable threshold based on its accuracy and the extent to which translators edit the machine translation.
- Once there is a consensus on the percentage of adjustment (e.g. 99% automatic translation and 1% adjustment), you can create a phabricator ticket like this one so that the WMF Language team can adjust the machine translation limit.
- I hope this information helps. Thank you! UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 02:08, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Problem For Translate page
Hello everyone. I don’t know who is in charge for coding the Translate page on Wikipedia. But I wanted to send my message to the Wikipedia coders, and that is that in the Wikipedia translation system, the information boxes for individual persons (i.e personal biography box- see: Template:Infobox person) are not automatically translated, and it is time-consuming for Wikipedia users to manually translate and change the links one by one from English to another language. Please, could the coders come up with a solution for translating the information template boxes? Thank you. 188.210.118.137 09:17, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia bot is telling me that it can't publish the translation of the page Fish pepper because it has 96% un-modified txt from the automatic translation, I checked the entire text (proofread) and everything looks ok, I corrected only a few words that are not used in spanish, why bother putting this feature if it wont even alloy the translation to be saved so others can proofread it also? it is disgusting, I will have to create the page in spanish myself. Spanish auto translation is great.. but can't be published
I was trying to translate from english to spanish and used the content translation tool. It works great! I edited a few typos but can't publish it because my text has a high un-edited content. Should I re-write the article using different words? The auto translation is pretty accurate and I'm not sure how to edit it more without changing the whole spirit of the article. I read about the percentage of edited text rule in another post and agree with it, but seems like we're missing the opportunity to translate more articles just because the AI is getting too good. Cannot load hard text paragraphs for translation
Hello,
I have already sent a ticket to Phabricator about the subject matter linked here, but the long and short of the matter is that I cannot actually get the original/hard text from Portuguese to English in particular in order to translate the material manually. This seems to be occurring on any platform (I tried on Chrome, Edge, and now mobile), and I am unsure why that is. If anyone else knows as to what the issue is, that would be of great help.

- +1; it has been almost one week since CX2 is not accepting jawp users to work on it. Since I do not rely on the MT part of this extension, the part I respect and enjoy the most are;
- aligning original text on the left and the translation on the right;
- templates are auto imported to the right window, and at times they require adjustment, as templates are not matched on wikidata as muc as CX2 wishes;
- Wiki text is not applicable on CX2, however, II can add formatting as I understand wiki formatting;
- Of course, adding page links,
brackets [[ and ]]
is a very tidious job if I am forced to do manually, which CX2 offers whenever I copy the otiginal text from the left window.
- I am sceptical about the abrupt unfunctioning of CX2:
- Why is there no notice in advance, if the change is permanent?
- Where on jawp or meta, do we have a forum to discuss pros and cons?

Problem publishing the translation
Done
Hello, I just finished my second translation, I'm new in here. I had two problems.
1) I cannot find a way to translate the reference list with the tool, is there a way to do it manually? or maybe they just don't show up but will be there once the article is published?
2) As soon as I try to publish it, this error message shows up:
"Los filtros de edición automáticos han detectado algún contenido problemático en tu traducción. Detecciones del filtro: Pruebas con caracteres gráficos y emojis, emoticonos y arte ASCII"
And I have no idea what emojis and so it is talking about. AbrilInon (talk) 23:33, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, just to fill in: can you check the right column/your language side, and see small letters in square brackets between words appear, such as: sample text [1].
- If it does, then the system will push through the references from the original language, however;
- possible issue
- The system shows you error messages such as: "the reference format does not match". It means the reference templates are not matching between the original/source language and that of your templates.
- possible solution
- I do not try to correct it on CX2 usually, as I have not discovered a swift way to mend. In stead;
- 1) publish to my User:Omotecho/sandbox/ariticle_title space.
- To do so, change the publishing destination with a cog-wheel icon; it is located at the very top of the page, outside of the translation columns;
- 2) when all jobs are done on CX2, the system insists I will double check the far-right column on CX2 and clear the errrors;
- 3) there is a button to note the error is solved, and I push each of them if there are four error notices shown as "1/4, 2/4,...";
- 3) then I will publish to my sandbox, mend the errors;
- errors example: on jawp, all "cite web" templates need _access-date=_, or the system tells you there is an error.
- 1) publish to my User:Omotecho/sandbox/ariticle_title space.
- If the correction is difficult, as somebody to help you, or does your wikipedia have mentoring program? Kindly, -- Omotecho (talk) 06:25, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

- Hello @イゾラド,
- This warning message usually comes up when a translation is "in progress", and the source article has changed (been updated, edited or reorganised). Once you go back to continue translating that article, it will let you know that your translation is based on the old version of the source article which has changed. Depending on how much the source article has changed compared to your translation, it will suggest you re-translate your translation to sync it with the source (original) new. This might be a bug if you think what I describe is not the case with your situation. You can provide the following information so we check to be sure it is not a bug.
- Which article were you translating and to which language?
- Which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- If you're getting any errors, please provide the log from the browser console if possible. To open browser console:press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac).
- I hope this information helps you. Thank you! UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 14:22, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

Saving Work issue
I was unable to use the service at all when the administrators abusing of power locking my account unreasonably for a period of time, and my works in process were all forcibly abandoned at that time without any records be recovered. I suggest the tools should provide further optimizations such as record preservation and progress maintenance, etc. in case of unreasonable interruptions and the risk of interrupting of administrators no reason. A few bugs
Thanks for a great instrument, which dramatically increases my productivity. Still here are some suggestions, which, if implemented, could save me about 30% of time spent on processing and post-processing of the translations:
- References get automatically translated correctly only if they are in very specific format, like Template:Cite web. Still, simple references in the form [www... name] get discarded. References defined in the reference section in the end of the article also get discarded. Moreover, Template:Cite web gets correctly translated from English into Ukrainian, but fails when translated from German into Ukrainian. Some of the references get doubled during translation and need to later be fixed manually.
- An empty space added before each reference is a nuisance. Moreover, in some languages (en, de, es, pt) the reference goes after the punctuation mark, whereas in others (fr, uk, zh, ru) the reference goes before the punctuation mark. If Content translation could correct this depending on the selected pair of languages, it could save me much dull work.
- Sometimes unnecessary empty spaces are also added if the text has subscripts or superscripts (like power indices or chemical formulae).
- Whereas a blue wikilink leads to an untranslated article, it is shown as a gray link with which you can do nothing. Before 2024 one could turn these gray references into red wikilinks to nonexistent articles, but now this feature is broken. What I would ideally love to have instead is automatic insertion of Template:Interlanguage link for all untranslated articles. (Certainly, I'll need to correct the names of the translation, but a half of this work would have been already done by Content translation.)
- Many language versions use for unbroken spaces (e.g. between the physical value and its units, between the initials and the name, in Czech even between the preposition and the following word). Content translation doesn't recognize this combination as space, and it often turns the translation into gibberish.
- If a paragraph includes a link to geographic coordinates, the entire paragraph gets broken, not just the coordinate link.
- Content translation can't translate sufficiently big tables or other structures (like multicolumn lists). It's very time consuming to do the biggest tables by hand.
- It is very nice that Content translation is offering instruments to format the text (boldface, subscript etc.). What is still missing is the possibility to format text as names of sections, subsections etc.

How do I reach the content translation interface from the Wikipedia app? Right now, I go to notifications and find a system message and click it. Ravidreams (talk) 09:18, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Ravidreams,
- Thank you for your question. Currently, the Content Translation tool is easily accessible via the web on mobile devices, but it is not available in the Wikipedia apps.
- We are looking into options for integrating it into the Wikipedia mobile apps for both Android and iOS. This may include adding it to the suggested edits workflow, as mentioned in the related ticket.
- I have also included your feedback in that discussion. In the meantime, please continue using the Content Translation tool on the web until we implement these changes.

Section translation inserted at wrong places
Hi, I tried two articles from English to Tamil for section translation in my laptop. Both the times, the section is inserted at the end of the page below all the content. New dashboard
The new dashboard is hardly an improvement. It now only gives a very few personal suggestions. I'm not really interested in which subjects are "popular" either. Also, "expand with new sections"? Seriously? Joostik (talk) 20:06, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Even "refresh suggestions" now hardly helps, because it keeps returning to the same limited number of suggestions anyway. Joostik (talk) 20:31, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- The only improvement is that you can now translate sections of articles which already exist in the target language (or even whole articles). Never understood why that was not possible before. But that does not mean I need suggestions of sections I might want to translate. It does not work that way. --Joostik (talk) 18:17, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Implementation of Policy for Content Translation Tool in Tamil Wikipedia
Hi,
We have established a policy regarding the use of the Content Translation Tool in Tamil Wikipedia. According to this policy, any user whether a new contributor or an administrator must request access before creating an article using this tool.
This policy has been formulated based on a community vote conducted in the Village Pump. Kindly let us know the appropriate steps for implementing this policy.
Looking forward to your guidance on this matter.-- Sridhar G (talk) 13:44, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Sridhar G,
- The next step will be to create a ticket in Phabricator like this one, explain the request and add the necessary tags. The team responsible will then work on it. You can also track progress from the ticket.
- Best regards, UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 15:01, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much. I have created a ticket . Kindly let me know if it needs any modification. -- Sridhar G (talk) 15:05, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
English to Afrikaans, mostly ok, but please add source code option
Thanks for this tool. There some are bugs, but I still find it very useful. Thanks. I do not know if these comments will still help you.
- I have a need to use it to add to existing but tiny Afrikaans articles from English. The option "is there", but a few times today it did not go to a recognisable page. It allows translating only one paragraph at a time, but following these links did not lead to a side-by-side setup. Eventually I got to a "translate anyway" message that helped. There is an in-between page, for me mostly with just the "continue translation"-button active. This seems redundant.
- I have a big translation that gets done in between other work, taking me very long. The source article does get updated, but in insignificant ways. I am happy to use the older version.
- In the past four days all intermediate edits to the older article was lost in the draft. I had to start at the point I was at two weeks ago every time, despite the message "draft has just been saved". I trust this is just teething problems.
- I would love to switch between visual and source editing..! For me it would solve quite a few problems.
- I would like to copy source code, like other commenters.
- I get superfluous spaces too, like other commenters. I could just live with that, if need be.
I suppose (hold on to your chair...) having three panes side-by-side is too much? Have two different source languages at the same time. The Dutch Wikipedia is very nice to compare to the Afrikaans, but mostly the English is more complete. As an alternative the third pane could swop between the second source language and source code for the target translation. Thanks for this tool, and your work to improve it. Bug in section translation from English to Vietnamese
I tried section translation on Vietnamese Wikipedia from English to Vietnamese to translate a section from the enwiki article on the CIA. However, when I published, the viwiki page on the CIA didn't change, even though the ContentTranslation tool says that it is published. Also, the tool no longer allows you to see what % of the article translation you are doing is from machine translation if you use machine translation. Dotruonggiahy12 (talk) 16:53, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Dotruonggiahy12,
- I can still see the % of the MT where it appeared before. You have to click on the "< >" arrows to see if there are other issue notifications on the panel; clicking on it will take you to it. I used the English-to-Igbo language pair to verify this; I could not access the English-to-Vietnamese language pair because it has some restrictions. UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 16:40, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- On the old interface, I can see the % MT when I hover my cursor over the draft translation, but that is no longer available on the new interface. I am referring to the main page of ContentTranslation where you can see all your drafts. Dotruonggiahy12 (talk) 21:54, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

recent translation issues
I use content translation past 4 years and created more than 9500 pages in Tamil Wikipedia. I appreciate the recent changes in the tool regarding editing various aspects. Hello, I suggest to move the (buttons for bold, Italic, ...etc) that are on the left of the page, to be a (fixed bar on the top of the page).
Section translation
Good morning. I have recently been using the new implementation of the tool to translate sections of articles with some success. However, a recent edit ([this one) of the article on the municipality of Corbie from fr:wiki to ca:wiki using the tool has been added to a different page than the one linked to the Wikidata item . I think that the underlying programming should be modified so that it adds the default edit to the article corresponding to the one linked by Wikidata, or perhaps better that it also allows us to add the section to another page (which could perhaps be suitable in exceptional cases).
On the other hand, due to my user profile that I do quite a lot of maintenance edits, and in may profile settings I have marked the edits as minor edits. However, for the edits with the tool it also marks them as minor, which I think is not the case. But the tool does not allow me to unmark the edits, which I can do when I edit directly on the corresponding wiki. Could you add a button to do this or implement automatic tools that would mark them as major edits?
Thanks for the work you are doing and for taking my comments into consideration. Cheers!

"machine translation component is disabled for all users" ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ContentTranslation&filter-type=automatic&filter-id=previous-edits&active-list=suggestions&from=en&to=es&page=Block-stacking%20problem#/sx displays this message:
On the English Wikipedia this tool is limited to extended confirmed editors, and the machine translation component is disabled for all users (see WP:CXT).
WP:CXT explains:
Why machine translation is disabled in content translation Raw or lightly edited machine translations have long been considered by the English Wikipedia community to be worse than nothing. Articles translated without adaptations are often unsourced or badly sourced, which violates our verifiability policy. Unedited machine translations are also often so poor as to distort the intended meaning, for example by missing a negation in a sentence; to clean up the output into acceptable prose, a human sufficiently fluent in English is needed who understands the source language well enough to be sure that the meaning has not been scrambled or distorted. Other policies and guidelines on the English Wikipedia, such as notability, cannot be checked automatically either, and need a human familiar with English Wikipedia's version of the applicable policies to know if the translated article is acceptable. Pages created prior to 27 July 2016 used to be evaluated for speedy deletion under now deprecated temporary criterion WP:X2. These pages may now be moved to draft space for review since most of the remaining articles did not need speedy deletion but rather a review.
I am not sure I understand what this is saying. What is the translation service good for if "machine translation" is "disabled"? Is there any other "translation" than "machine translation" available? What is this tool actually supposed to do?
When I tried it today for the first time it would only translate the title of the article but no more.
I have described my experience here as I only discovered this page afterwards.
thanks for your help in advance,

Allow users to choose Simplified or Traditional Chinese output in Content Translation Tool
When using the Content Translation Tool in Taiwan, the system automatically generates content in Simplified Chinese, and users have no option to choose between Simplified or Traditional Chinese as the translation output.
This design overlooks the important distinction between Chinese language variants and does not respect to the language preferences of users in Taiwan.
Although Wikipedia automatically displays articles based on the reader’s language preference, the issue occurs during the translation and page creation process: Traditional Chinese users are forced to work with Simplified Chinese content during translation, which is unfamiliar and discourages participation.
I propose the following improvements: The system should detect the user’s language preference or region and automatically generate content in the appropriate variant (zh-tw or zh-hans); Alternatively, provide a clear option at the beginning of the translation process for users to select their desired output variant.
I hope this issue can be addressed soon to support fair participation for Traditional Chinese users. Thank you. Alexwikix (talk) 07:06, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @Alexwikix, for pointing out the distinction between Chinese language variants and the need to capture them in the Content Translation tool machine translation support. Adding chapter to non-existant article
Today I noticed that I had not translated a chapter of English WP article F-47 to the corresponding already-translated Greek one. - Hello @Omotecho, can you share the links to the articles that are being affected? UOzurumba (WMF) (talk) 13:36, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello,@UOzurumba (WMF), thank you for your attention (: Here is the diff link for the en-ja page. Would you have a look please? Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 16:06, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Omotecho, Below is a screenshot of what I see when I click the diff link for the en-ja page you shared. Is it what I am supposed to see? If it is, that is fine; I will just pass it on to the engineers.

- OK, the problem itself is better described outside of CX2 diff.
- Is it helpful if jawp will create
[[:w:ja:Template:Langx/doc]]
? Will that fill the gap between enwp and jawp, which then CX2 will have no problem and stop showing alert: Template mismatch? - The source wiki text on enwp reads: (stripped the templates and textboxes.)
The '''Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Limited'''<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/IOMS:LN|title=Isle of Man Steam Packet Co Ltd/The - Company Profile and News|website=Bloomberg.com}}</ref> (abbreviated to '''IoMSPCo''' or, locally, '''The Steam Packet'''
(Template:Langx)<ref>{{cite news|title=Teare moved by Dunkirk memorial|url=https://www.manxradio.com/news/manx-gaelic/teare-moved-by-dunkirk-memorial1/|access-date=4 November 2024|work=Manx Radio - News|date=3 June 2015}}</ref>) is the oldest continuously operating passenger shipping company in the world, having been founded in 1830.
-
- Wikidata shows tempate:langx is on jawp: Template:Langx, while;
- Template:Langx/ja lacks /doc file.
- This is as far as I see mismatch between CX2 against jawp, and appreciate tech team would cast a light on where we have a loose end. Omotecho (talk) 16:04, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Omotecho. Template are created independently for each language. Content Translation tries to map the equivalent templates across languages. For example, the original article in English has an instance of the English Wikipedia Langx template, since this is connected to the Japanese Langx template in Wikidata, the Content Translation tool creates the Japanese version of the template and copies over the parameters (language code and text in that language). However, that does not seem to be what's expected by the Japanese template. I don't know exactly why, since there is not much detail in the Japanese template page documentation. - @Pginer-WMF, hello, thank you for responding. I am curious that for jawp if we might substitute tl:langx with more popular tl:lang?
- Tell me, is my guess very wild that tl:langx without /doc file on jawp causes the problem or not?
- or if /doc file is a mapping table, it hints why CX2 cannot match parameters 1-to-1 among source and target language;
- on the contrary, for tl:cite_book, enwp and jawp share literally identical /doc files.
- If it will hit the solution here or it, I will think about and import tl:langx/doc file from enwp and translate into jawp. Of course conditional that I will not see any copy&paste issue cross-wiki for tl:lang looking at its revision history on jawp firstly.
- If anybody advise me any open issues out it, I will appreciate your input very much. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 14:26, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Omotecho.
- Template parameters are normally mapped based on names, aliases and information in templateData. For this particular template, it seems that the templateData is missing form th eJapanese version. I did an example to insert the template using Visual editor (check the screenshot): on the left side, on English Wikipedia a dialog is shown with input fields for each parameter. On the right side, on Japanese Wikipedia the templateData is missing, and Visual Editor cannot create a specific form for editors to fill the template details. Improving the metadata of the templates would help tools such as Visual Editor and Content Translation to better handle these templates.
- More details about template mapping are documented here.
- Hope this is helpful. Pginer-WMF (talk) 12:53, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much to go for the extra mile, the screenshot is so helpful to see the bigger picture. Then, to be prepared, it will be handy and sum up the discussion on enwp; it looks a milder ladder to improve the course IMHO.
- Yes, I have read enwp discussion to replace lang to langx: now I realize it will involve a proposal among our community, how we will / will not benefit from using langx and forget about lang-??. Thank you again for shedding light on my inquiry, great learning about langx which is so important for translated articles. (= -- Omotecho (talk) 04:19, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Translation of long article couldn't reload and crash
Nothing happened during the previous editing about 3 months ago and the page couldn't reload currently as remained work is context of sheet, even change the browser there is the same crash, a German article to Chinese. How would the translate platform be this after 3 months? Longway22 (talk) 08:56, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Longway22: Hello, could you please provide these information:
- Which article were you translating and to which language
- Which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- If you're getting any errors, please provide log from browser console if possible. To open browser console: press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac).
- Thank you. SCP-2000 (talk) 12:34, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
How can I publish my draft on English Wikipedia?
I created the draft "Airport risk plan" by translating my Italian page "Piano di rischio aeroporutale". How can I publish it on Wikipedia in English? Figliodellestelle (talk) 11:33, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Machine translation threshold from English to Portuguese is not useful at all
Most of the automatic translation provided is actually quite good. However, almost every paragraph I proof-read and make minor changes to the translation pops up the warning of the text not being edited enough, warning that it will likely be removed when being reviewed by other editors. Am I supposed to unnecessarily change the text just so that it passes the imposed limit? Here are the couple paragraphs that I have the question for. Because if that is the case, I'm not going to bother translating this page for it to just be tossed in the trash.

Paragraphs getting mixed up when reloading a saved translation draft
Hello, I don't know if it's a knows issue, but I've been trying to translate the German Wikipedia article Faust. Eine Tragödie to Slovak and after saving my work today (being almost done) and reloading the draft a bit later, some paragraphs of the translation appear misalligned - along with the wrong original paragraph - which caused some (long!) paragraphs like this one to disappear completely and to be replaced by other ones, some paragraphs are now not only misplaced, but appear more times in place of other ones. It's true that the article is long, so if there are some memory limitations, that could have caused that, but I don't see the point in using the tool if it can only handle short articles. I am using Opera GX with all RAM/CPU/network limiters turned off. Is there a way to recover the noncorrupt version of the translation? I don't think I want to try again knowing I could lose hours of work again. Thank you! TomášPolonec (talk) 17:06, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
- Just to show, how it looks like, in case it's not clear: https://ibb.co/rGtWtGcr Just a few hours ago, that paragraph was fully translated, now the translation is replaced by another paragraph from the end of the article and the original translation doesn't appear anywhere else.
