表示が邪魔になることがあります

一覧化された複数の各項目ついて連続して、タブを開こうとすると、表示位置が次の項目のクリックに対して邪魔になることがあります。

例えば、次のWEBページを見て下さい。 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E3%81%AE%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%A6%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7

Yw1969jp (talk) 06:37, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Yw1969jp: If I understand correctly, you are asking about one of two things:
  1. the Hovercard itself is hard to click on - This is by design. We're meant to click on the text-link itself, not on the Hovercard.
  2. Sometimes, the Hovercard does not disappear fast enough, so that you end up clicking on the Hovercard instead of the next link in a list. They're working on 2 changes that will help resolve this: A preference to disable the Hovercards (which could be used temporarily). Also a user-JS configuration to adjust the timing of the showing and closing. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 23:32, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Photo > map

I think, if there is an actual photo in the article, than, in hovercard there should show you this photo, not a map. It should have higher priority, or something. I hope that I'm describing it right.

I don't get it how does it work, sometimes it shows you a photo, sometimes it shows you a map, even if the photo is "higher" in the article source code. Ireun (talk) 11:24, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

This is a neat idea. The key reason being that its weird to see a map that you cannot interact with. We use page Images to extract the image. I can inquire if maps are tagged any differently from other images. Thank you bringing this up. Vibhabamba (talk) 17:28, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Last Edit ->More Info

I think Hovercards is a good idea. But, in my opinion, the message at the bottom showing that when the last edit done is not very useful and it should be changed to a link showing "More Info" linked to the wiki page. (e.g. When I point my mouse to the link "Alphabet" then Click "More Info", the Wiki "Alphabet" will be opened IN A NEW TAB / WINDOW) PS. When I first use the Hovercards, I was surprised at I CANNOT FIND A WAY TO OPEN THE WIKI BECAUSE THERE IS NO NOTICE. Limi qs (talk) 05:31, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Oops! There is a mistake. All 'Wiki' above should be changed to 'Article'. Limi qs (talk) 05:36, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your input. If you click anywhere on the hovercard it will take you the article page. I'm not sure I understand your comment in all caps. Vibhabamba (talk) 17:17, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Hovercard text different from the first 2 sentences of the article

Currently, the text displayed in the hovercard is the first 2 sentences of the article (which ends abruptly if it doesn't fit). Would it be possible to let the editor specify what text appears in the hovercard of a particular page in its source? In this way, the editor will be able to adjust the content so that it fits in the hovercard properly. Also, in some cases, there might be some other information more appropriate to display that the first 2 sentences of the article (eg. first few items of the list from list articles or some content of the infobox). Gawande (talk) 17:20, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Gawande: That sounds like a really interesting microcontribution! right now we take the lead text from an article and remove any templates or translation text (also templates) to make sure you get to the "meat" of the intro text more quickly. But we'll capture your idea for future iteration to the feature, thanks! Jaredzimmerman (WMF) (talk) 18:32, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Jaredzimmerman (WMF): I definitely agree with Gawande. This is particularly an issue for articles where the lead text across a class of articles is standardised in a way that doesn't define the term being hovered over.
The simplest idea would be an anchor that can be inserted into articles at the beginning of text the editors wants to bring up in the hovercard. {{hovercard}
But I would also suggest creating a sub-field within hyperlinks that instructs hovercard to use a different section from the target article. That allows the creator of the link to specify a particular text that is appropriate for that parent article. [[Article name|optional display text|hovercard section], such as [[The Robots of Dawn||Plot Summary]. For example, in an article on Isaac Asimov, the having the hovercard show "The Robots of Dawn is a science fiction novel by Isaac Asimov..." is pretty useless. Whereas for another article, bringing up that standard intro might be better.
Similarly, I notice that when the hyperlink is to a sub-section [[article#section|section], hypercards still only brings up the lead text of the main article, not the lead text in the linked section, which would be more useful to the reader. 14.2.59.205 (talk) 18:38, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Accidentally changed the hovercard settings.

How do I get the settings dialogue to appear? I changed it to editor mode and the card doesn't activate. Help? Scientistaryaman (talk) 15:36, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Scientistaryaman: There's "Enable Hovercards" link at the bottom of the page (in the footer). Gawande (talk) 20:13, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
You can turn this back on using a link in the page footer. The link says 'Enable Hovercards'. We need to improve the UX, clearly a lot of users are confused because they turn it off, and its un-intuitive how to turn it back on. Vibhabamba (talk) 20:10, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Sometimes in the way

Nice idea. However I found that it sometimes got in the way when it appeared directly on top of a wikilink and I actually wanted to click this wikilink. Then I accidentally just clicked the hovercard and nothing happened. (FYI: Opera 12.17 on Win7x64) MonsieurRoi (talk) 17:45, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for reporting this. The hovercard acts as a giant target to take you to the target. The behavior you encountered is probably a bug. I'll add this to the bug list. Thanks. Vibhabamba (talk) 20:09, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Can Flow pages be translated into my language?

I though the different wikipedia sites that differ by language would have their own talking sites, why not this time? Lexikon-Duff (talk) 10:26, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Lexikon-Duff: great question! we're doing an experiment to see if we can have a single unified talk page for a given feature to make sure everyone's voice is heard feel free to use the beta feature flow enabled talk pages in your own language. the Flow/Messaging team is working on making it possible to have Flow board header content available in local languages, thanks again for the feedback and letting us know this is affecting you as well. Just wanted to say

Great work WMF - this is a sleek, good looking and useful extension. People always seem to moan whenever you make improvements to the software, something I've never understood. Keep up the great work is what I say! Acather96 (talk) 07:40, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Richtig super mit viel Potenzial!

Hey,

ShadowGhoster (talk) 22:52, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Some images are cropped in hovercards

If a image doesn't fit, it is cut to the right size. That looks odd on many pictures. Would be better to fit the picture to the available space and leave the rest blank. LordOider (talk) 17:26, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
LordOider: I agree, it results in pictures such as portraits occasionally getting half of the face cropped. Ptb1999 (talk) 14:49, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
There is some cropping to create a consistent layout between cards. We'll continue to refine this behavior to work in as many cases as possible. However its likely due to the nearly infinite number of image size ratios there may be cropping applied to some images. The thought is primarily that the text, and image should give you a glimpse into the target page, and in this sense, both the image, and the text are a snippet. does not work

It does nothing. I use Firefox and default skin. Misibacsi (talk) 20:19, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Misibacsi: can you go back in to your preferences and confirm that the feature is enabled? Jaredzimmerman (WMF) (talk) 07:21, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
It WAS enabled when I tried to use it. Now seems to work with some links. Misibacsi (talk) 14:36, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
We'd love to have preference save automatically so issues like this don't happen to anyone else. We have a bug logged to automatically save them like most modern web sites. hopefully this will get resolved soon. Thanks for your feedback and testing.
