I am writing to request the promotion of the WikiShootMe.js user script as a Gadget on Wikipedia. The WikiShootMe.js user script is a useful tool that allows users to quickly access the Wikishoot tool page, which displays Wikidata items, Wikipedia articles, and Commons images with coordinates on the same map, won the Coolest Tool Award in 2021.
The user script takes latitude and longitude coordinates from a Wikipedia page and redirects the user to the Wikishoot tool page. This can be very useful for editors who need to quickly locate images and other media related to a particular location.
The WikiShootMe.js user script has been developed and tested by myself and other users, and we believe it meets the criteria for promotion as a Gadget on Wikipedia. I have provided a link to the script below, along with an installation guide for interested users:
Script link: User:Gopavasanth/UserScripts/WikiShootMe.js
Installation guide: User:Gopavasanth/UserScripts
More about the tool: WikiShootMe on Meta-Wiki.
Thank you for your consideration. Please let me know if you have any questions or need further information.
Sincerely,
Gopavasanth Gopa Vasanth (talk) 04:44, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- What does this have to do with MediaWiki.org? Cross-wiki gadgets aren't a thing. * Pppery * it has begun 04:47, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Pppery, updated the above links to wikipedia.org. please verify and provide your thoughts. Thanks for the catch! Gopa Vasanth (talk) 04:52, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- That didn't answer my question. This is the village pump for issues affecting MediaWiki.org. The script you wrote AFAIK has no relevance to the scope of MediaWiki.org, so why did you post this here rather than on Wikipedia? * Pppery * it has begun 04:59, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, Thanks for clarifying. I apologize for any confusion. I've posted on the appropriate page, the Wikipedia Village Pump, at the following link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Promote_WikiShootMe.js_user_script_as_Gadget. Please feel free to share your thoughts on the matter there. Gopa Vasanth (talk) 05:54, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi,
Apologies if this is the wrong place, I couldn't find an administrator's noticeboard. A user who created their account via w:en:WP:ACC is running in to a block creating their local account here. Could an admin please go to Special:CreateLocalAccount and create an account for Leezook4? You can reference ACC request #330452 in the reason field if you like.
Thanks! —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 00:26, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Proposal: Add Template:Hubs to the main page
Propose add Template:Hubs into Template:Main page as first template after info box, because it's very important hub for advanced users, which found specific information about the MediaWiki engine. This web site is not for inocent users. It's website for developeres, admins and translators of MediaWiki.
Today, I am tryed go to page Project:Translation/cs from my cellular phone. Mobile skin hasn't the left menu and it was very depressive for me, because I has problem find link, which I want add to the User_talk:Rebulka. I every finished on the anothers pages – Project:Language policy, or manual pages of the Extension:Translate. It's all right, but informations about conventions of marking isn't there. Page Project:Translation/cs is based on my experiences, and intended primarily for the beginners.
But it's not just about the translators.
My suggestion is very urgents, because from the time what MediaWiki.org the mobile design use, I am seeing a noticeable decline in new volunteers willing to contribute to the content of MediaWiki.org. And the main reason for this by my mind is that access to content important for hims is not as intuitive as it could be. Want (talk) 10:00, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Want, Thanks for your comment. Template:Main page already has sections for system administrators ("Set up and run MediaWiki"), users ("Edit and use MediaWiki"), and developers ("Develop and extend code"). For translators, Template:Main page links to How to contribute (from "Get involved as a translator, designer..." ), which then links to the Translator hub. But it seems like these links are not as clear as they could be.
- Can you say more about what links you look for on the Main page? Would breaking up "Get help and contribute" into two sections make contributing information more visible? APaskulin (WMF) (talk) 23:13, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- By my mind is need strip with links as Template:Hubs for example.
- I have prepared a series of screenshots from my mobile phone for demonstrate, but to explain it want to create a comprehensive text to show specifically what the problem is. I have to concentrate on that, but for now I am busy, because do important changes in my extension, which I use for just such purposes (demonstration bugs on screenshots for example).
