Hey! Could you please change my account name from "Railfail536" to "Rail"?

Thank you. Rail01 (talk) 16:05, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Merging old Bugzilla account

Hi, I had an old Bugzilla account associated with email capmo700 (at) yahoo.com.br. Several years ago I made what is specified at Phabricator/Help/Reclaim Bugzilla and RT accounts, but I'm afraid the accounts weren't merged. When I check my Activity I only see what was done with the new account; the Bugzilla-era activity does not appear. Can something be done to fix this? Capmo (talk) 16:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Capmo, feel free to file a request in a Phab ticket, however I can imagine that currently nobody will prioritize fixing the six year old migration code and test and deploy that, so I'd say it's unlikely. Also see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T163581#6743413 AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:43, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

What should I do

See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T272137

This is the backlog of things I do related to Wikidata and often external sources that I connect with

Hi @Salgo60, if https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/3477/ is a personal workboard for a single individual, then it should likely be a "User" type of project (see Phabricator/Project management#Types of Projects )? Plus is it intentionally a subproject of WMSE? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:42, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
" intentionally " No
  • when it was created I guess I spoke with people at WMSE and that was the way the told me
    • now I feel they want it to be separated Salgo60 (talk) 10:26, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Plus is "so9q" at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/so9q/ really supposed to be a subproject of https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/3477/ ?
As a start, it would help to explain what these two projects are for. (They currently lack project descriptions.) Thanks :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:44, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
I have connected > 10 Wikidata properties and use Phabricator to track communication with external sources and things to do,..
Properties requested:
@Salgo60 Hi, not sure why there is a list of Wikidata properties...Could you please explain what these two specific projects in Phabricator are specifically for? They currently lack project descriptions. Thanks! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:35, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
I have requested to create them and use Phabricator to track activities regarding them and other things.... you asked why we added activities on Phabricator... Salgo60 (talk) 10:42, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@Salgo60 Hi, I did not ask why you add activities on Phabricator (that's fine and very welcome, and it is meant to track activities, in general)... I asked what the two specific project tags that you added in Phabricator are about. The project tags do not have a description, but project tags should have a description. Currently only you know what a project tag called "so9q" is about, but nobody else knows. Same problem with the project tag called "Magnus Sälgö". Please see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T272137 - thanks! :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:51, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Ok
@Salgo60 It seems that these two project tags are User projects (see Phabricator/Project management#Types of Projects )?
In that case they should follow the guidelines (icon, color), they should follow the naming scheme, they should have a description anyways (please always add project descriptions when creating projects, so other people can understand what a project is about, as Phabricator is a public place)?
Also, "so9q" is a subproject of the project "Magnus Sälgö". "Magnus Sälgö" is a subproject of the project "WMSE". Is that a mistake? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I get a permission error when trying to edit the description.
I'm gonna migrate to github projects and tell magnus to remove the project when I'm done. So9q (talk) 11:24, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi, there is no concept of removing projects themselves in Phab (except for removing project tags from tasks). Maybe this is about archiving? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:07, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@Salgo60 Hi, could you answer my previous questions please? Thanks a lot! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:12, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
  • "Magnus Sälgö" is a subproject of the project "WMSE". Is that a mistake?
    • yes/no was just a way to move away his tasks from "my" backlog
  • It seems that these two project tags are User projects
    • yes
  • they should have a description anyways
  • subproject of "WMSE"
    • that was said ok when was created but I guess they dont want that.... Salgo60 (talk) 14:27, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
I'm done migrating now. You can delete my board and all my tasks. So9q (talk) 13:16, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
@So9q Hi, it is not possible to delete a project. Does that meanhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/?project=PHID-PROJ-vcetdghb43iaf765xagc&statuses=open()&group=none&order=newest#R should all be closed? Do you plan to do that, or do you want me to mass-close them? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 08:48, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Mass close sounds good to me. So9q (talk) 09:03, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, my phabricator account was disabled and I don't know the reason. Can you please enable it back? Thank you. Alejabo (talk) 19:32, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

@Alejabo Hi, there is no Phabricator account associated with your MediaWiki.org username. If you think there is, then please provide more information, e.g. a link to that account. Thanks! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:59, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for rhe reponse. This is my account: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Alejabo/ (I think is associated with my developper account). Alejabo (talk) 20:23, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Ah, thanks. I don't remember the exact reasons, but that (at that time new) account's only edit was changing the Priority of a task without any explanation, see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T257066#6523665 , so this didn't look very constructive. :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 20:31, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh! I'm sorry. That was a mistake. I didn't even know about that change. Is there any chance that you restore my account? Alejabo (talk) 20:49, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation! Sure, I have now enabled your account again. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:39, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Track mentions

I'm trying to ensure I'm alerted to direct mentions of my name (someone using @nskaggs) on tickets. Filtering mail doesn't seem to always work, and it would be useful to see these directly in the UI as well. Any advice or strategy on filtering for username mentions? NSkaggs (WMF) (talk) 20:22, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

@NSkaggs (WMF) Hi, I'm not aware of any good way (like a list) in the web UI. One could query tasks for stuff like body:@nskaggs or comment:@nskaggs but that wouldn't allow sorting results by the date of these mentions.
How exactly do you filter mail? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 21:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
I recognize that you asked about the UI, but if it helps, here is how I filter email, which works well for me (with the caveat that I like using email):
Filter:
How is this possible? With X-Stamps. Most email clients stash Phab email data in the header of the email, and you can point to that data. Gmail, however, strips it out, so you have to tell Phabricator to be explicit and put the data into the email itself. This also is required for filtering to work, since Gmail's filtering options are limited to a few simple searches. X-Stamps look something like this:
To get this into your Phab emails, change your settings here:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailformat/
and set Send Stamps to Mail Headers and Body.
After that, you can tell Gmail to filter on things like your @mentions.
See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help/Managing_mail for more info, and https://secure.phabricator.com/book/phabricator/article/mail_rules/ for more more info. This part is especially relevant:

When writing filter rules against mail stamps in Gmail, you should quote any filters you want to apply. For example, specify rules like this, with quotes:

"author(@alice)"

Note that Gmail will ignore some symbols when matching mail against filtering rules, so you can get false positives if the body of the message includes text like author alice (the same words in the same order, without the special symbols).

You'll also get false positives if the message body includes the text of a mail stamp explicitly in a normal text field like a summary, description, or comment.
There's no way to avoid these false positives other than using a different client with support for more powerful filtering rules, but these false positives should normally be uncommon.Hope that helps, please ask any questions you may have. :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 23:30, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Many thanks to both of you. @MBinder (WMF) I too would prefer an email based solution, and your description is perfect and should solve my problem! Fingers crossed on the next direct mention! NSkaggs (WMF) (talk) 15:32, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

MediaWiki User – Phabricator

Hello, I was renamed from "Patriccck" to "Patrik L." here at Wikimedia projects. How can I change "MediaWiki User" here? Thanks in advance. Patrik L. (talk) 12:13, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

@Patrik L. Hi, admins can change your Phab user account name. Please provide your new Phab username and note the limitations. Thanks. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:28, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
I am just wondering if and how can I change "MediaWiki User", see screenshot to "Patrik L.". I decided I will keep my nickname at Phabricator due to restricted whitespaces. Patrik L. (talk) 12:56, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
That's... weird. I don't know technical details, but I've seen it updated automatically on Phab profiles in the past. Not sure what's (not) happening here.
The only quick way that comes to my mind is to connect your LDAP/Wikitech/Gerrit to your Phab account, then disconnect your old MediaWiki/OAuth/SUL account, and then connect your new MediaWiki/OAuth/SUL account: Phabricator/Help#Using your Wikimedia developer account AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 13:20, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

How can I edit the code of Phabricator

Hello. I am a beginner in Phabricator. I want to edit the code on this page because the translation of that page was wrong, but I couldn't find 'Edit' in that page. How can I do that? Thank you. TKsdik8900 (talk) 03:48, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

@TKsdik8900 Hi, good question. :) "Phabricator Diffusion" (the part in Phabricator which allows to browse in source code repositories) mostly only mirrors code repositories from other places. See https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/455/ which has a link to the canonical source code repository in Gerrit; see Gerrit/Tutorial how to write code changes and share them. Thanks! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:22, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer. I followed the page https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Tutorial to get to the page https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/cldr/+/639393/6/CldrNames/CldrNamesJa.php , but I don't know how to proceed from here. I read https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Tutorial#Editing_via_the_web-interface , but I couldn't find the '"Commands" in the sidebar' there (step 2 on the above page). Am I doing something wrong...? Could you tell me about it? Thank you. TKsdik8900 (talk) 08:45, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi, could you bring this up on Talk:Gerrit/Tutorial please? Thanks! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:05, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

What image size configurations can we use on phab?

I usually use `size=full` but sometimes something smaller would be better but I could never find this information anywhere. is there a way to use "small" or "fit" or "90%" ? Dvpita (talk) 12:27, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

@Dvpita Hi, if this is about embedding files in tasks, then I'm only aware of {F123} syntax which would show a thumbnail, and {F123 size=full}. Related upstream tasks seem to be https://secure.phabricator.com/maniphest/?ids=8227,10506,11609#R AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:47, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Can we have a list of most used tags and usernames when we click the textbox?

I usually create tickets with the same tags and usernames, would it be possible to have a drop-down with the most used ones before I start writing so I can just pick them? Dvpita (talk) 12:28, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

@Dvpita: Hi, uou could use URL parameters to create URLs for the most common cases, and for example add these links as items to your Favorites dropdown at phab:favorites/menu/configure/custom/. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:51, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi,

I am unable to receive a verification email for my email Id rohiteshkumarjain@gmail.com while creating an account on Phabricator, I have tried send another email option, waited for a day, and checked all of my mails along with the spam folder still I haven't received it yet. I want to say that pls either deactivate my Rohitesh20, which I created using the rohiteshkumarjain@gmail.com or pls check why I am not receiving the mail. I have also checked that I have entered the correct email Id.

Best,

Rohitesh. Rohitesh Kumar Jain (talk) 13:58, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi Rohitesh, sorry for those problems. I am not aware of any mail server problems on our side. Admins can delete Phab user accounts if the accounts have not been used, if that is wanted. Disabling an account is also possible but I don't see which problem that should solve? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:53, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
Actually I wasn't aware that the Wikimedia SUL and LDAP accounts are two differnet entities. I ended up creating multiple accounts on LDAP and SUL, because was confused that why am I not able to login.
When I went through the documentation I realised that, both SUL and LDAP accounts should be connected to a single phabricator account, and connecting an LDAP account to phabricator is important in order to contribute to the wikimedia.
I created one Phabricator account Rohitesh-Kumar-Jain (Rohitesh) with email id "thekumarjain@gmail.com" (which is also my SUL account), I created another Phabricator account with LDAP account: Rohitesh20 username : rk-jain, email : rohiteshkumarjain@gmail.com.
So now I want to link my gerrit account with Roihtesh20 (username : rk-jain), I am getting a message that my account is linked to another phabricator account. So according to the documentation, to solve this problem I should detach my Rohitesh20 from the phabricator account so that I can connect it to the phabricator where I have connected my SUL account. But I am not able to detach my Rohitesh20 LDAP account from the phabricator as I am not recieveing any confirmaiton email despite the email address being correct. That's why I wanted you to delete my phabricator where I have connected my LDAP account. Rohitesh Kumar Jain (talk) 08:47, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
After verifying, this all makes sense. :) I've deleted the unusd Phabricator account called Rohitesh20. Hope that helps! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:56, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for deleting that account, I have now connected both the SUL and the LDAP account to a single Phabricator account.
Thank you for your super fast replies and help. Hopefully, I will be able to do something meaningful with this Phabricator account : ) Rohitesh Kumar Jain (talk) 10:33, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Is there a way to use checkboxes to show 'in progress'

Hi all

I really like using checkboxes in my tasks but is there a way of marking them as in progress but no complete? It would help me and others keep track of progress better

Thanks John Cummings (talk) 17:31, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

@John Cummings Hi, a checkbox is binary (checked or not checked).
Workboards could be used for progress tracking on a task level. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 03:27, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
OK, thanks very much, yes I use a workboard also, just wanted something more detailed for individual tasks. Thanks again John Cummings (talk) 10:12, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Is there a way to view tasks that have laid dormant for a long time?

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Specifically, tasks that have seen little activity at all, with said activity shortly after their creation. Tasks such as https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T170846, or https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T147490, which are old and out of date and can be closed.

I'd like to browse a list of those and see how many I can close. (Mostly because I want to see the number "Open and stalled tasks in total" in the Phabricator monthly statistics decrease) Mainframe98 talk 09:20, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

@Mainframe98 Heh, I appreciate the intention! :) https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T248034 comes to my mind...
It depends a lot on how you define "dormant". The most simple way (and definition) would be querying for open/stalled tasks and order by "Date Updated (Oldest First)": https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/wqKvWfbDNl.E/#R AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:55, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
That task is useful, thanks. I see the search form has a "Updated Before" field, that allows relative values too. Perhaps I can do something like "Updated Before: 4 years". Mainframe98 talk 10:58, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Phab test env?

Hi!

I often come back to the Phab test environment. I believe it is currently https://phab.wmflabs.org/

I've tried signing up for an account, but can't seem to get the verification email needed.

Also, this environment seems to change every so often. Is there a way to be included as a user when that occurs, so I don't always have to sign up again? Regardless, is there a place to keep up with when these shifts to new environments happen?

Thanks! MBinder (WMF) (talk) 22:01, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Heja, the verification email problem is covered in phab:T265505. Im not sure who maintains that test instance these days. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

Bulk edit more than 100 tasks at once

Is this possible with the UI? MBinder (WMF) (talk) 20:27, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@MBinder (WMF) On https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/advanced/ , try to set a value for "Page Size" to something larger than 100 (the UI takes 100 by default but it does not display it). (And phab:T205258 came to my mind but that should not be an issue anymore.) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 21:01, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
(Uh, and feel free to improve Phabricator/Help#Batch edits please.) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 21:02, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
That worked! Thanks for helping me discover a new approach to using the Maniphest.
Followup question: What's considered a safe limit for # of tasks to batch edit at once? MBinder (WMF) (talk) 21:55, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
@MBinder (WMF) I think I've silently mass-edited about 500 tasks at once so far. I'd expect Phabricator's job scheduler daemons to manage (and properly buffer) any number. If it doesn't then it would be the software's fault, not yours. :D AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:12, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Phabricator sends me emails about DiscussionTools project.

I was interested in the project, but not now. I want to unwatch it.

Why is this happens and how I fix it? Lens0021 (talk) 18:05, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

@Lens0021 Hi, sorry for the problems... I could not find anything either (yet) listed on Phabricator/Help#Troubleshooting 2. Could you maybe forward a complete email, including its message headers, to me (aklapper at wikimedia dot org), so I could try to take a look? Thanks! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:10, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
I have forwarded an email, thanks! Lens0021 (talk) 19:23, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
@Lens0021 Unfortunately the forwarded message is not complete and lacks most message headers. However, in that example, you are simply subscribed to that task. This happens for example when someone creates a subtask of a task that you are already subscribed to, or when someone creates a task and explicitly adds you to the subscribers list. This is unrelated to a project tag, it's about the task itself. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 20:27, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Good, but I cannot find the parent task when searching tasks both subscribed by me and tagged as DiscussionTools or as Editing-team. (Result #1 and #2) Does that means PPelberg is adding me to the subscribers list explicitly?
Also, I sended the whole email again. I wish it works this time. Lens0021 (talk) 21:28, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
@Lens0021 The task graph in T280388 shows T269062 as its parent task. That parent task is included in the results of your search query. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 05:50, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Can't access my wikitech account

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I'm trying to get back into my wikitech account after ages, and I get the following error message:

You must verify your email address to log in. You should have a new email message from Phabricator with verification instructions in your inbox ([])

I had this wikitech account (Yuvipanda) before I was at WMF, so I'd like to get it back :D YuviPanda (talk) 14:19, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@YuviPanda: Hej hej! :) https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Yuvipanda/ is an active account (and linked to both LDAP and SUL accounts) and says "Email not verified", indeed. Querying the Phab DB, your email address ends with "@wikimedia.org" so it's likely invalid.
Can you manage to log into Phab by using your mediawiki.org SUL account instead (Not sure though, as Phab is linked to the SUL account called "Yuvipanda" but your account now seems to be "YuviPanda")? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:54, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi @AKlapper (WMF) :D
Yeah, I volunteered for SUL renaming when it first came out, so my SUL entry is kinda screwed up. When I try to login with SUL, it tells me it's going to create a new account. And when I try to do that, I get:
  • Another user already has that username.
  • Another user already has that email.
Even though this email is yuvipanda@gmail.com YuviPanda (talk) 16:36, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@YuviPanda I think the underlying problem to first sort out here is your wikitech/LDAP account if you cannot log into wikitech. That would be the Cloud Services folks, presumably. :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:48, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF) I understood that Yuvi has access to Wikitech, but Phabricator still has the old email somewhere and is Yuvi can't do anything unless that old email (that he can't access) is verified, which is not possible. Taavi (talk!) 16:59, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, might be... As a Phab admin I cannot change the email address of a Phab account in the UI. This would require directly editing the DB. I don't have permissions to do that.
UPDATE phabricator_user.user_email SET address = "ThatNewAddress" WHERE userPHID = "PHID-USER-2nnm76h4ykalvvref2ye"; basically.
@MModell (WMF) Any better ideas? If not, who could do that? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 21:21, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
(Plus I'm wondering if this needs an additional verification check, as the Phab account has some non-default permissions... what do I know.) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 21:26, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF) @YuviPanda: I see both email addresses in phabricator and they are both associated with the same user PHID. I'm going to try switching which address is listed as 'primary' and maybe that will fix the issue. MModell (WMF) (talk) 15:47, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
@YuviPanda: Can you try logging in now that I've changed your primary address to the non-wmf one? MModell (WMF) (talk) 15:48, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
@YuviPanda ping - can you log in? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:47, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

wrong email verification phabricator

I have tried to join phabricator. It asks for a verfication of email address but it sent the verification to an incorrect email address. How can I correct the email address to one I have been using for wikimedia purposes?

FYI, I have an email address in use of en.wikipedia.org, and other wikimedia sites. Ktsquare (talk) 18:08, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

I've deleted (unused) https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Ktsquare/ so you could re-register with a valid email address. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 20:25, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. How do I decide using a unified account or an independent at phabricator? Ktsquare (talk) 20:27, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
See Phabricator/Help#Creating your account AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:42, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
May I also ask if you the technical guy delete an account, are all the records gone forever? In other words, do you recommend backing up offline what is entered online? Ktsquare (talk) 01:47, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Deleting an account in Phabricator will "permanently and irreversibly destroy this user account. If you delete an account, it will no longer be possible to (for example) search for objects they created, and you will lose other information about their history. Disabling them instead will prevent them from logging in, but will not destroy any of their data." (PS: I might not be a "guy".) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:34, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Database dump

Hello! I have some folks asking for a database they can query with SQL. I recall this was possible in the past for projects like Phlogiston. To whom can I direct said interested parties? :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 20:23, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

https://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/misc/ AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:32, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I realize the dump is in JSON format, hmm. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/diffusion/PHTO/browse/wmf%252Fstable/wmfphablib/phabdb.py is the corresponding code creating and sanitizing it. I'm curious what the actual use case is though... AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:50, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! I will forward these. As for use cases, I think the minimum is simply comfort with familiar tools, and beyond that I will defer to those folks interested (I have sent them this thread). :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 15:43, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
@MBinder (WMF) we can run one-off queries or set up static reports using SQL, we just can't give unlimited access because that could reveal sensitive information. I'd be willing to run queries manually if there is a pressing use-case. MModell (WMF) (talk) 09:47, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

Query multiple columns via Maniphest

I would like to see if a task matches criteria for more than one column (obviously on different boards, assuming columns on the same board are mutually exclusive). I tried doing that here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/ElPvD_Yiivyc/#R

but it seems to either A) show me everything in both columns combined (rather than only tasks that match both columns), or B) show me something else entirely. I am thinking this is because I lack a way to say "and" rather than "or" (the latter accomplished, I think, via comma separation), or the query is simply breaking something.

Is there a way to query via Maniphest that says "show me tasks that exist in both of these columns"? MBinder (WMF) (talk) 18:06, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

I've never seen the "Columns" field on Maniphest's Advanced Search form. How to get that displayed? :)
There seems to be no logical AND or OR for entries in the "Columns" field, indeed. No good idea (so far).
I wondered if explicitly adding the corresponding projects of those columns into the "Tags" field ("Ready for Development" on #iOS-app-v6.8.1-Manta-Ray-On-A-Tractor, "Bug Backlog" on #Wikipedia-iOS-App-Backlog), as the "Tags" field by default is a logical AND. But https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/m_oBmrmGYCuz/#R does not work as expected either (some results are incorrect). AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 19:15, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
> I've never seen the "Columns" field on Maniphest's Advanced Search form. How to get that displayed? :)
I generated that via "View tasks as query" in the per-column menu (the non-intuitive pencil icon).
Thanks for taking a try with your query. It's curious how those results generate, given (as you said) that they are seemingly wrong.
Is there documentation somewhere for Maniphest syntax? Could I imply "and" via "+" or something, etc? MBinder (WMF) (talk) 21:28, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
I guess the "Columns" field (which is not exposed by default) does not support multiple values at all and only parses the first value, but that's just my guess based on the results of the two queries above. Might be a question for upstream at https://discourse.phabricator-community.org/ .
For the records only, the corresponding SQL query for what is wanted here would be something like this (and currently shows 3 task results):
SELECT t.id FROM phabricator_maniphest.maniphest_task t INNER JOIN phabricator_project.project_columnposition cp INNER JOIN phabricator_project.project_column c WHERE c.phid = "PHID-PCOL-csnseb4iqcjdwssg7r7k" AND c.phid = cp.columnPHID AND t.phid = cp.objectPHID AND (t.status="open" OR t.status="stalled") AND t.id IN (SELECT t.id FROM phabricator_maniphest.maniphest_task t INNER JOIN phabricator_project.project_columnposition cp INNER JOIN phabricator_project.project_column c WHERE c.phid = "PHID-PCOL-qvpchgb7ecjhwhdeyuzv" AND c.phid = cp.columnPHID AND t.phid = cp.objectPHID AND (t.status="open" OR t.status="stalled")) ORDER BY t.id; AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:10, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
From looking at the code, it seems that the columns search field indeed supports multiple phid values and does an OR not AND on the columns. I don't see any way to do the intersection of two or more columns, only the union is possible. MModell (WMF) (talk) 09:43, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

Blocked or Dependent Tasks

What is the best way to reflect dependent or blocked tasks in phabricator? If I want to say task X is blocked by task Y (implying task Y must finish first), how can I best do this? NSkaggs (WMF) (talk) 16:42, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Task Y should be a subtask of task X. In addition, task X could be set to "stalled" status (with an explanatory comment) as long as task Y is not resolved. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I might add that Phabricator does not specify types of subtasks the way, say, JIRA does for blockers. The data does, for the most part, exist, but it's manual information used to create a narrative.
For example, a task might be a subtask of another, but that does not say explicitly if that subtask is a blocker or a subsequent task. One of the better ways to understand circumstance is to look at other data in the same context. The task graph on a task with relationships to other tasks can be useful for this.
This task (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T241474) is a small example of how a task tree can help understand the narrative projected by the subtasks, using the "Subtype" column in the task tree. A "Feature" has a few subtasks, one of which is a "Bug" and another which is a "Design" task. There is also one uncategorized. At this stage, I don't yet know if the bug is a blocker or tech debt (in a circumstance where, say, the bug was caused by the parent task but doesn't necessarily block it, e.g. tech debt). Hovering over that task shows me the tags for it, and #tech-debt is not there, so for now I can (probably) assume that the bug is a blocker.
Much of this relies on users leveraging Phabricator well, and there are definitely times when that flexibility simply leads to more confusion because users forgot to organize things, but some might say that is a feature in and of itself, as the consequences encourage better practices. :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 20:47, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Is there a process for help with vandalism in a test env?

Hi!

A user on phab.wmflabs.org has been closing tasks on some of our mockups. I thought maybe this was an honest mistake (it's a test env, so it's easy to assume it's just a place to mess around with whatever), so I reached out to them to ask them to stop and why and offered to help them with whatever they wanted to do. I also added a description to the project in question. After reverting their changes, however, they did it again. I've noticed this user is blocked on some wikis and has a disabled account on WMF production Phab, so I suspect their intent is simply malicious.

At the end of the day, I just want my mockups to be preserved (we're doing it in a test env to not overwhelm production). I think my best option is just to manually change access for each task. Is that accurate?

Thanks! MBinder (WMF) (talk) 15:22, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

@MBinder (WMF), vandal-only accounts should be blocked. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 17:27, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, @Whatamidoing (WMF). I think I am wondering more specifically what to do for the test env, which is not monitored by pretty much anyone, nor anyone's real responsibility beyond (I think) whomever set it up. MBinder (WMF) (talk) 18:11, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
Does that mean there is production data (mockups) in a non-production instance? If yes, could someone explain what "overwhelm" means exactly? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:29, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
I wouldn't call it production "production data" exactly (I would show you but I had to change the policy for all of the projects and tasks to stop the vandalism). It's really just a simple backlog and Kanban board to illustrate, in an interactive way, how we might make those changes on production. It is populated with fake tasks. "Overwhelm" doesn't mean "break Phab" so much as "make 30 tickets that aren't actually work and make AKlapper pull his hair out while clogging real boards." :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 16:04, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Have you asked for admin/blocking rights there? You might be able to solve the problem more directly. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:29, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
In my understanding, the test instance exists to test whatever people want to test. That can include altering someone else's test data. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 05:19, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF) that's fair! FWIW, at this point I have protected what data I think I need to, so my motivation for this post is moot. I have some conflicting personal values around the "vacuum" of a test environment, but practically it's no matter now. :) MBinder (WMF) (talk) 15:03, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

How to query tasks for null in a field?

I want to either filter or board or generate a Maniphest query that returns tasks that have an empty "Estimated Story Points" field. I have two challenges thereof:

  1. There is no field for this in either Maniphest or board filtering. There is a Final Story Points field. AFAIK, the Estimated Story Points field is much more widely used, but that is my own experience bias.
  2. Assuming there is a field or one can be revealed, how does one search for null values?

For the first issue, I used a browser inspector to reveal the name of the Estimated Story Points field ("points"), and tried to manipulate the URL in the same manner as revealing the "IDs" field (e.g. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/?ids=1,2,3,4#R but instead https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/?points=4#R or https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/?points=4). The resulting query returned many tasks but none relevant to my request (presumably, it just returned all tasks). If I do the same inspection and manipulation for Final Story Points, it appears to work: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/?std:maniphest:points.final=4#R. Of course, this field already exists, so this just tells me that the URL trick may yet work and I just don't have the right parameter.

The second issue of search-for-null issue continues to fully elude me. MBinder (WMF) (talk) 21:13, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

I believe that this is not possible, except for the special-case of "not assigned to anyone", where the system allows you to select "Assigned to: No-one". It's a feature I've missed, too. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 09:05, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

phab:T216815 is a request of updating phab:tag/thumbor/ to Debian Buster, however it is not clear to me which version thumbor is currently using.

Is it correct that phab:tag/thumbor/ still uses the old Debian Jessie? (Regular security support updates till June 2018ref; End of long-term-support: June 2020ref)

@AKlapper (WMF) @AntiCompositeNumber Is there somewhere a public information, which software Wikimedia components/thumbor is using? JoKalliauer (talk) 15:59, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

This does not sound like a question about Phabricator itself, but about Thumbor? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:06, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
No, Thumbor is on Debian Stretch (currently oldstable). I don't know of an authoritative public list of what uses what version, though I can say that there shouldn't be anything running Jessie anywhere. https://apt-browser.toolforge.org/ is broken down by OS target, which can give an indication for services using a Debian package like Thumbor. Can I disable the default for subscribing to a task when I comment?

i dont wanna subscribe to every single task i comment, but it always adds me automatically for my first comment. can this be changed? RoyZuo (talk) 09:50, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, the idea behind the current behavior is when you join a discussion, then you might be interested in what others reply to you.
Expanding the "Change Subscribers" dropdown under "Add Action..." can circumvent the current behavior. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 10:02, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
i dont think i can prevent the addition when it's my first comment. that circumvention only works for subsequent comments. i dont want the subscription at all in the first place. changing the default setting is better than manually canceling every time. RoyZuo (talk) 10:14, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
As far as I know, no such default setting is available (and I'd personally not be in favor of introducing such a setting as I'd expect folks to reply to potential followup questions). AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 11:12, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

phabricator login access

I cannot access phabricator.wikimedia.org. After logging in with email id and password, soon after entering Appcode, it shows as:

'Invalid'

or

'This factor recently issued a challenge which has expired. A new challenge can not be issued yet. Wait 45 seconds for the code to cycle, then try again. Wait'

Please note that, with the same Appcode I can login to other Wikimedia projects. Gpkp (talk) 15:39, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

@Gpkp Hi, when you say "appcode", do you refer to 2FA/multi factor authentication? On which exact URL is that "appcode" dialog shown? Do you log in via LDAP or via SUL on Phabricator? What are clear and full steps to reproduce, step by step, including URLs? What are "other Wikimedia projects" exactly (URL)? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:50, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF), Thank you.
Yes, by appcode I meant 2FA/multi factor authentication, precisely: 'multi-factor credentials' .
More details:
Factor Name: Mobile App (TOTP)
Authenticator I am using: Google Authenticator.
Url on which the appcode dialog is shown: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/finish/
URL I used for login: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org./auth/start/?next=%2F
I login via clicking: 'Log In or Register (MediaWiki)' and not on: 'Wikitech Account (LDAP)'
by other Wikimedia projects I meant:
URL's:
en.wikipedia.org
en.wikibooks.org
commons.wikimedia.org
Once I input the 'App Code', the error is displayed as I stated in my previous/first post.
I disabled 'Two-factor authentication' in my 'en.wikipedia.org' account and tried to login here:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org./auth/start/?next=%2F, but it still ask as:
'Provide Multi-Factor Credentials' again, by opening page:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/finish/ Gpkp (talk) 17:31, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi, multi-factor settings on some Wikipedia have nothing to do with multi-factor settings for your Phabricator account.
I can see that https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Gpkp/ has multi-factor auth enabled; your multi-factor settings for your Phabricator account are at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/multifactor/ . You will have to use the Multi-factor code for Wikimedia Phabricator (not: some Wikipedia) in the app that you set up when you set up Multi-factor Auth in Wikimedia Phabricator. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 18:15, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
@AKlapper (WMF), I dont have access to the 'multi-factor-credentials' of my Phabricator account, so without which logging-in is now not possible at all.
Would you disable it for me please? Gpkp (talk) 07:13, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi, please see Phabricator/Help#Multi-factor authentication and its links about resetting. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to verify this request. :-( AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
  • If* you have never used that Phab account it might be way easier to delete it instead. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:19, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
There seems to be no way to reset 'multi-factor-credentials' or to delete the Phab-account, without logging-in. While its possible only from admin-end.
While details in these pages: 'Phabricator/Help#Multi-factor authentication' and 'Phabricator/Help/Two-factor Authentication Resets' are only applicable to the ones who can login or from admin-end.
There is a thread: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T85706#1805699 which is closed as 'doesn't make sense if you cannot log into Phab anymore'
Does it mean its better to create a new Mediawiki account just for Phab-sake, or could you suggest a place where I can post my request for 'multi-factor-credentials' reset ?
If required my user committed identity hash is this:

Use of silent batch edits to close tasks

@Stjn, @Izno and I were discussing this use of a silent batch edit by @LGoto (WMF) to close a task as declined. I generally wouldn't expect a silent batch edit to be used to close a task, and especially not a task with a reproducible problem, several subscribers, and a not insignificant amount of discussion with loose agreement that something should be done, eventually. This seems to go against the advice in Phabricator/Project management#Closing a task, and doesn't appear to have been the best action to take.

This specific action isn't really my concern though, rather, I think it is merely a symptom of a potentially larger issue. I looked for documentation on when this tool is supposed to be used, but didn't really find any. The only things I found were Phabricator/Help#Batch_edits, Wikimedia Product/Technical Program Management/Requesting silent phabricator batches, and wikitech:Phabricator#Run_a_bulk_job_silently_(suppressing_notification_spam), which only explain how to use a silent bulk action, not why or when. Silent bulk edits are powerful tools, which is why approval from a small list of users is required to use it. But those actions aren't routinely logged, don't appear in the acting user's feed, and don't appear to be logged in the Phabricator interface as far as I can see. The only way I was able to find a list of tasks closed in this action was by working backward with advanced search. I wasn't able to figure out who made this action silent.

There needs to be more guidance about when a silent bulk action is appropriate. One of the core parts of Phabricator etiquette and the Wikimedia community in general is working in the open. Use of silent edits for potentially controversial actions, like mass-declining tasks (including tasks that had the potential for future work), appears to be evading scrutiny and should be explicitly prohibited. Usage of the tool should be publicly logged, preferably in a way that allows a review of what actions were taken silently. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 16:36, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

I'm also annoyed. That's not how we (should) do things. And as we told the reader-whatever-we-call-it-this-month group before they are more than welcome to throw everything into a "we don't care about these community issues" column of their workboards and learn how to use filters. —TheDJ (Not WMF) (talkcontribs) 08:38, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

How do you report a disruptive user on Phabricator? @AKlapper (WMF) Firestar464 (talk) 07:08, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I don't think that there is a specific way. It very much depends on what you mean by "disruptive" and why you think of "reporting" (to whom, to expect what exactly?) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 07:52, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
What does one do if someone is making unconstructive comments on Phab? Firestar464 (talk) 08:45, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
You could politely tell the person to make more constructive comments and could point them to Bug management/Phabricator etiquette (in case that it is covered). AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:05, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

What is 'Unknown Object (Task)'?

When browsing phabricator I noticed that sometimes there appears something like:

Dzahn added a subtask: Unknown Object (Task).

(this example is from T265963).

Could someone explain me what that means? Is that an issue with Phabricator or are these task somehow protected from viewing? Zabe (talk) 21:30, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

@Zabe This is the generic placeholder that is shown when your user account does not have permissions to access/see that specific linked object (in this case a task). AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 01:41, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
Usually it shows 'Restricted Task' for me. Is there a difference? Zabe (talk) 10:48, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
That is a good question. The task in this case is in a non-public Phabricator Space; I think "Restricted Task" is shown in case of View Policy changes on a per-task level. But I have not checked the code if I'm correct. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:42, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
These ones being in non-public namespaces while the 'retricted' ones had just their view policy changed, is a very plausible explanation. I was just curious. Thank you. Zabe (talk) 17:07, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

How to filter tasks by user who appears in either "Assigned to" or "Other Assignee"?

I want to create a filter that shows all open tasks for a team member who is either “Assigned to” the task OR is tagged as “Other Assignee”. I would like to be able to filter tasks on our team's board the board by team member with just a quick click (for checking during board refinement or when reviewing work together). I previously created a list of links to open tasks filtered by team member here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/3313/ (but those links only query the "Assigned to" field).

Is it possible to create a single filter in Phabricator that queries whether a user is in EITHER "Assigned to" OR "Other Assignee"?

Thanks! KZimmerman (WMF) (talk) 22:28, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

I don't know who created the "Other Assignee" custom field or where it was discussed (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T283746#7118003). WMF Release Engineering might know more, as I think it started as a "fallback train conductor" custom field. Generally speaking, custom fields are not as supported as the standard "Assigned To" field, plus I'm afraid that querying two separate fields (as an "OR") on a value in general is not supported. :-/ AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:11, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks @AKlapper (WMF) - so it sounds like I'm asking for the (currently) impossible. Also, I'll keep in mind that "Other Assignee" is not fully supported. KZimmerman (WMF) (talk) 17:31, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
(Just for the records though this wasn't asked: One can also "Group by Owner" in the workboard filter dropdown ("Natural", "Group by Priority", etc) itself, to still see all tasks on the board at once.) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 06:17, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi! Is it possible to change user name from SwedishMuseum to VisbyStar? I think it would be better and less confusing if I use the same name as in the other Wiki platforms! Best regards VisbyStar VisbyStar (talk) 20:52, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

@VisbyStar Hi, this is not possible as another user already has the username "VisbyStar" on Phabricator. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:27, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
Aha O.K! Yes I'am the same "Tore Danielsson" that created "VisbyStar". Seems that I did not understood how things worked then (having changed my username back to VisbyStar)! I will see if I find my password. Thanks for checking up! Best regards Tore VisbyStar (talk) 11:37, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
@VisbyStar Seeing that https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:Tore_Danielsson&action=history is a redirect, and as https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/VisbyStar/ has never been used in Phab, I could probably also delete that unused Phab account, and then rename https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/SwedishMuseum/ . Now that I think about it. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 12:15, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I started with VisbyStar and then created "Tore Danielsson (RU)" when working in a governmental organisation and then changed to "Tore Danielsson" at the end of that employment. But went back to the more "freely" not so obvious VisbyStar. Sorry for the confusion! VisbyStar (talk) 13:14, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Creating a user's board and username change request

Hello Team/SRE

I have two requests.

  1. Can a user/community volunteer create their own board without creating a project / team? For example, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/5586/ or https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/5584/ Because, Tracking actions with just my username tags would be a lot helpful on phab rather than tracking this on my page as the page will get cumbersome sooner than later when I add tasks further.
  2. As I mostly see the username change requests on this discussions page, can you please change my username from "TheReadOnly" to "SDineshKumar" or "SDK" on MW.org? I think reflects in Phab automagically.

Thank you

SDK TheReadOnly (talk) 10:18, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

@TheReadOnly Hi, one Phabricator workboard is always bound to one Phabricator project tag, and vice versa. The username change requests on this Phabricator Help talk page refer to changing usernames in Phabricator itself. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 11:59, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks AKlapper. So, Do you mean the following ?
  1. So I need to create a project with my own name to have a board for myself. Am I right with this? If so, Can I create a board with my username? Hopefully, that wouldn't collide with the work and board of existing users and their tags and other than just adding tags to them.
  2. On username stuff, So to change my user name on Phab, Can I remove my MediaWiki Account and add a new account(needs creation) that says "SDineshKumar" as my username and would that make Phab to use it as my username rather than "TheReadOnly". This change is not priority for me. But, I feel the need to understand the systems better and unify the username so as to create confusion. TheReadOnly (talk) 16:19, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
For #2, I accidently bumped into https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:GlobalRenameRequest/status while learning and requested for change. TheReadOnly (talk) 17:09, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
  1. You can request a Phab project tag, see Phabricator/Creating and renaming projects.
  2. If your account gets renamed there should not be a need to connect _new_ accounts in Phab. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:20, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Herald: How to see what tags have been most impacted by a rule?

The Growth team is wondering how often its Herald rule (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/H26) is triggering, sorted by tag. Is there a way to find this data? MBinder (WMF) (talk) 22:46, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Hmm, I don't think the database saves which exact condition of a single Herald rule triggered the action, but I'd need to dig more into the DB scheme to know for sure. According to SELECT COUNT(*) FROM herald_ruleapplied WHERE ruleID = 26; that rule has been triggered 3278 times so far. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 23:41, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Please, I need help with logging in to my phabricator account. My account has Multi-Factor / 2FA issue; when I try to login into my Phabricator account, my google authenticator does not work, it displaces "Invalid". I have reset the time clock on the google authenticator app and on my devices still the issue has persisted. I have tried the option "Trouble logging in? Send a login link to your email address", and it does not send any email to my account. I don't know what to do next.

This issues started after I changed my phone and imported the google authenticator account and app to my new phone. My phab account is linked to this Wiki account. Is it possible to manually verify my account and reset it?

Hi,

Do you have to get consensus from Wikipedia Community portal proposals before creating a Feature request?

And where do I find the approval flow for feature requests?

thank Wakelamp (talk) 01:58, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I don't know what "Wikipedia Community portal proposals" are - could you please provide a link? If you refer to configuration changes to Wikimedia websites, please see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes (but not sure that is what you're asking for). I don't know what you mean by "approval flow"; what exactly needs approval and why? Could you be a bit more specific, maybe? :) Thanks a lot! AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 13:13, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Possibly this is something to do with the Spike task type? I can't find the Phab config settings for the task types to double-check. Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 19:09, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Form 60 (for editing Spike tasks) has a Can Edit Policy: Task authors, subscribers, members of Trusted-Contributors and WMF-NDA, admins. I do not know why it was created like that, maybe @MModell (WMF) knows more. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 22:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

I changed the defaults for that form to all users. MModell (WMF) (talk) 11:24, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I needed to create an Phabricator account to install an extension on a miraheze wiki, but I entered my email adress incorrectly and now I'm stuck and can only send verification email to the wrong adress, how can I reset this? My username on miraheze and mediawiki is Tera458 Tera458 (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

What is the exact name of the account in Wikimedia Phabricator that this is about? AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 00:09, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
Its Tera458 too, sorry for not adding that detail earlier Tera458 (talk) 00:23, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
@Tera458 No, such an account does not exist: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/p/Tera458 AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 00:25, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

My account has been disabled

My Wikimedia account is a clean start account and using the same email as my old account, Nhatminh01. However, the Wikitech account is in the old name and paired with the old account, and have been disabled. Please re-enable my account (Nhatminh01 in Phabricator) JrandWP (talk) 14:39, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi, that was done because of https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T210714 which didn't look too constructive. :) AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:12, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Yes, but after 3 years I have changed a lot since then, so please re-enable my account (also this is my clean start account, editing after 3 months) JrandWP (talk) 15:29, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Heh, okay, but could you explain what's blocking you from using your current mediawiki.org account to create a new Phabricator account? See Phabricator/Help#Creating_your_account. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:30, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Using the same email address JrandWP (talk) 00:38, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
Ah, now I understand! I have enabled the account phab:Nhatminh01. If you wanted to connect that Phab account with your wiki account here, then you could add it via phab:settings/panel/external/. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:07, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
In the future SUL accounts will merge with development accounts, will my Phab account be renamed to JrandWP? JrandWP (talk) 09:57, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi, a Phab account is neither a development account nor a SUL account but a Phab account. AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:33, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Project membership not updated

Hi, I am here to ask for help for a strange cases. I joined project Wiki-Setup in the past, and I don't want to be inside this project anymore. However, when I leave this project, I see I am still inside several subprojects of this project. I want to know how to completely leave those project (Create, Delete etc.,). Thanks!
