How to make a request

Make sure you are posting in the section for the right you want.

Copy the following and add it to the end of the text-area:

Replace the word "reason" with an explanation of why you need the right, based on the relevant guideline: the rollback guideline, renaming guideline or the patroller guideline.
Press Publish changes.

If your request has remained unanswered for several days, consider personally asking an administrator.
Administrators, please welcome users granted a new right with an appropriate message.
When requesting rights that need support by the community (e.g. administrator) please go to Commons:Requests and votes!

If you request the rollback-right, please read the how-to first.

Admins and anyone with global rollback don't need to request rollback. License reviewers don't have to request the patrol flag.

I often upload corrections to soccer line-up graphics such as File:Tottenham_Hotspur_vs_Manchester_United_2025-05-21.svg and I sometimes use CropTool to tweak the cropping of images other people have uploaded. Thank you. PeeJay (talk) 20:11, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

I want to upload new version of an image uploaded to Commons (Original image has black frame and has been cropped but resolution is reduced more than expected and lost Camera model). Hello @Tô Ngọc Khang: : You're actually in the wrong place. If it's just a matter of cropping images, you only need Autopatrol permissions. Then you can use the Commons:CropTool and thus don't have to re-upload an image from an external source. Another advantage is that CropTool creates a link for you even after you've created it. I would like to request the filemover right because I want to help more on Commons, and it seems to me that the filemover right would be a great way to do that. I know I have barely made any rename requests, but I have read the guideline well and properly- if rejected, then someone suggest where it might be easy to find files needing renaming? Also most of my uploads were very early, so I just uploaded them with their name from flickr- I now know that I should chosen way more informative names for them. Thank you. I primarily work on uploading public domain books for use in Wikisource and recently I've been working on uploading journals and magazines. I've encountered several cases when the filemover rights would make the work quicker. I'm requesting this right so I can reduce the renaming queue instead of adding to it.
