Mtvdanilo

Hello, I found some classic Brazilian samba songs available in the public domain through the Moreira Salles Institute. I would like to upload them, they are in .mp3 format.Thank you. Mtvdanilo (talk) 13:07, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Sound recordings are often trickier than other media because of multiple copyrights. In the case of this 1941 sound recording, Dizem que sou um mau rapaz, the composition may be public domain (would need confirmation on who composer was). Francisco Alves died in 1952 so his performance rights would be expired. So it does indeed appear to be public domain in Brazil. But since 1941 sound recordings are still protected in the United States until 2042, they aren't PD in the US yet. Abzeronow (talk) 18:13, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
@Abzeronow stale for a month. A gentle reminder to take a call on this one. Shaan SenguptaTalk 09:09, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to request autopatrol rights so that I can update the File:Betty Ford.gif with a higher resolution file I have found from the White House Historical Association website. While the file on the website itself is in the .jpeg format I currently have it converted to a .gif format to conform with the file requirements.  Preceding unsigned comment added by LosPajaros (talk  contribs) 04:22, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi @LosPajaros, you could do that by a request at COM:OWR. The only problem one can have with granting you this right is the long history of redlinks in your talk page archives, though the last batch is 9 months old. Can you tell us that you've understood where things went wrong for you back then? Shaan SenguptaTalk 04:31, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
I've enabled overwriting on the file (although I'd suggest uploading a png version of this file too). You had three blocks in 2021, and some more recent deletions over sound files that weren't actually from federal employees. So I am feeling cautious about this request. Hi, I would like to request autopatrol rights so that I can upload recordings of myself, such as saying Vietnamese phrases like "không có đậu phộng", which will go to English Wikivoyage.
Your edit count is a bit low. You can use .ogg or .flac for recordings but I think you'd be trustworthy enough to be able to upload mp3s. So I'll just wait a bit until you're over 200 edits. Abzeronow (talk) 01:32, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

Leonardo Cirrus

Hello. I'm creating updated tropical cyclone tracking maps with new colors and I would like to request autopatrol rights. This will allow me to efficiently update my works and overwrite the older color versions created by other users. I'd also like to help maintain file pages by removing redundant "=={{int:filedesc}}==" code for greater reader clarity. What's more, I want to help update the path of currently active tropical cyclones. I have already made more than 500 edits. I would be grateful for your consideration of this permission to support my creation and contributions. Thank you. Leonardo Cirrus (talk) 01:49, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
More than 500 on enwiki, not here. Your edit count here is 164. I'll keep this open for a while. Abzeronow (talk) 01:56, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
@Leonardo Cirrus its not just 500 edit count but 500 useful non-botlike edits. Keep this in mind. Racing to the count won't help. We need to see both quality and quantity. Also for now if you want to overwrite any files, you can request at COM:OWR. Thank you. Shaan SenguptaTalk 09:06, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

I am seeking rights to overwrite "Kit body" style uploads on WikiCommons. I create my own designs representing Association Football kits for display on the Wikipedia pages of Association Football Clubs, as well correct designs from other users to allow for a more accurate and truer depiction. I am therefore seeking Autopatrol rights to continue my work. Thank you. ZephyrTurtle14 (talk) 23:06, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Edit count is still a bit low, everything else looks fine. Abzeronow (talk) 23:46, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

I'd like to upload an interview I made as part of the Wikiversity course Introdução ao Jornalismo Científico. I've got the file in .mp3 format and want to add it to the assignment along with a signed document by the person interviewed autorizing it. Thank you. Cloudywoodstock (talk) 19:58, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Oppose, too early. Incall talk 21:39, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Not done Sorry, but you'll have to convert the mp3 to ogg or another acceptable audio format. As Incall says, too early for you to receive the right. Abzeronow (talk) 01:27, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Heylenny

Hi! I'm mainly active on Portuguese Wikipedia (rollbacker and autopatrolled) and have been uploading free-license images here, mostly from Flickr (CC BY-SA 4.0) and some original photos. I know Commons policies and which free licenses are accepted, and I'd like to request autopatrol rights here to upload more than 4 Flickr images at once to streamline the process. Thanks! heylenny (talk/edits) 03:44, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
You were blocked a year ago for copyright issues (some of which related to Flickr). A few DRs relating to AI images recently but those shouldn't affect your request. Abzeronow (talk) 02:36, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
@Abzeronow: The only DR I got wrong was the 'Supertrump' AI image because it was clearly derivative work (edited movie poster), but I marked that one G7 myself later. About the block back then, I believe it was a communication error, but it was quickly clarified and unblocked the next day by DarwIn. heylenny (talk/edits) 04:18, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

I usually use HotCat and Cat-a-lot for catgories, they are too many, can I request this right to reduce patrols? Thank you. Henrydat (talk) 14:40, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request the filemover right because I want to help more on Commons, and it seems to me that the filemover right would be a great way to do that. I know I have barely made any rename requests, but I have read the guideline well and properly- if rejected, then someone suggest where it might be easy to find files needing renaming? Also most of my uploads were very early, so I just uploaded them with their name from flickr- I now know that I should chosen way more informative names for them. Thank you. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:25, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I trust you, but we need to ensure that the renaming follows all the rules. Incall talk 15:34, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm making RR's for some of my flickr uploads right now(maybe I should do it for all of them, but they are many, and most are unlikely to be used). I will also try to find other images to show that I understand all the rules and not just rule 2. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:38, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Are the RRs I have made in the past week enough to show I know the rules? DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 08:23, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello @DoctorWhoFan91, as you said as well as what I can see, you have just one renaming request till date. I would suggest you make some more successful requests and gain some experience. We can keep this open for (maybe) a week if you are willing. Shaan SenguptaTalk 15:35, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, I will start with finding images which need renaming and make RRs from them. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:39, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
@DoctorWhoFan91 there you go. The names you are suggesting are better than the current version but not the best. What's TST? Noone knows it like that. See what I used to carry it out. Shaan SenguptaTalk 15:51, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Yeah- I was going for concise as it's likely only chess editors will use these files. Perhaps your way is better- I made the latest RR your way. Thank you. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:58, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I see some good renaming, and some renaming that tends to initialize Doctor Who and series that may not readily identifiable as from Doctor Who. So I feel ambivalent about granting. Abzeronow (talk) 20:26, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
I have been trying to have a balance of conciseness and informative- hence the initalisation of Doctor Who- looks like it is a short form for something- and so even a non-fan can look in the description for more information. Even the guideline states that we shouldn't try to fit everything in the title, as that's what the description is for. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 12:05, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
the guideline states that we shouldn't try to fit everything in the title. Agreed. But that doesn't mean that the name doesn't help in identifying the subject in the file. This is exactly what I flagged earlier. Shaan SenguptaTalk 12:24, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Yes, but it does identify the subject enough- it's from something DW, which is most likely some kinda of media- so any person can check in the description what media it is. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 16:15, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
I would also say that I changed up the chess renames when you stated that they weren't informative enough to a non-fan. No such change was asked for by any filemover in any of my requested moves- so given what info I had- I assumed it striked a balance. You can see I do not abbreviate location names if I ask for a move of file that involves non-fictional elements- as any abbreviations might be confusing given the high number of locations in the world. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 11:27, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
@Abzeronow request filed 2 months ago. Stale for over a month. Please take a call if you are satisfied. Thank you. Shaan SenguptaTalk 09:11, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Sinigh

I've only requested 79 file moves so far and I would like to do a lot more, but I don't want to flood admins and filemovers with requests, which is why I've ended up only requesting moves sporadically. But since I'm obviously interested in correcting and (if needed) improving file names, I believe I should make myself useful instead of shying away from it. I've read Commons:File renaming and related policies, and will be returning to them. Thank you! Sinigh (talk) 18:12, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
FYI: I'm currently travelling and will be away for the rest of the month, but if anyone has any questions during this time, I'll respond as soon as I'm able to. Sinigh (talk) 09:56, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Alavense

I understand the criteria and I have made some requests myself which have then been carried out by other users. I believe I could make good use of the right. Thank you. Alavense (talk) 04:24, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Tkarcher

Requested a couple of renamings before, but only today noticed the considerable backlog in the respective maintenance category. I read and understood the guidelines and would like to work on this backlog. Thank you. Tkarcher (talk) 08:32, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Hello @Tkarcher thank you for applying. I can see just one renaming request from you, that too just before applying for this permission. Can you point us to more (if there are). Even that one is of a minor spelling mistake suggested by the uploader as you said there. If this is the case and you dont have more than one RR, I would suggest you gain some experience by making a few and then come back. Shaan SenguptaTalk 12:56, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Hm. I also can't find any previous ones right now, but admittedly, this was years ago, so either they were not marked with the respective tags back then, or I did it without being logged in. Either way: I requested the renaming of five additional files today to (hopefully) prove I've understood the guidelines and criteria. --Tkarcher (talk) 11:08, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
