No is a traditional Japanese dance drama with a poetic text that is sung to the accompaniment of three drums and a flute. All the actors are male. The costumes are havy and stiff with emphatic designs that suit the slow, deliberate movements of a No performance. This type of robe is known as atsuita and would probably have been worn by an actor playing a male role.
