English: Pacific Ocean (Feb. 20, 2003) – Left to right, Fire Controlman 2nd Class Eric Boyer of Reno, Nev., Fire Controlman 3rd Class Craig Bowen, of Washougal, Wash., and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Heather St. Clair, of Camas Valley, Ore., perform a maintenance inspection on a Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) after completing a Pre-Aimed Calibration (PAC) fire to check the gun bore alignment aboard USS Carl Vision (CVN 70). CWIS is primarily used for air defense against enemy missile and aircraft threats. Carl Vinson is currently conducting operations in the Pacific Ocean.
