Die Hoheitsrechte für das Wappen liegen jedoch bei der Stadt Leipzig (s. u.) und es muss dort für den jeweiligen Nutzungszweck um Erlaubnis gefragt werden, ob das Wappen verwendet werden darf (siehe auch hier archive copy at the Wayback Machine).
