O Castelo de Monforte, localizado na Freguesia de Águas Frias, encontra-se localizado a 825 metros de altitude e integrava a defesa do vale de Chaves. Foi mandado edificar por D. Dinis no século XIII, provavelmente sobre vestígios de um castro romano.
