Description
English: The process of illumination usually follows these steps:
  1. Graphite powder dots create the outline
  2. Silverpoint drawings are sketched
  3. Illustration is retraced with ink
  4. The surface is prepared for the application of gold leaf
  5. Gold leaf is laid down
  6. Gold leaf is burnished to make it glossy and reflective
  7. Decorative impressions are made to adhere the leaf
  8. Base colors are applied
  9. Darker tones are used to give volume
  10. Further details are drawn
  11. Lighter colors are used to add particulars
  12. Ink borders are traced to finalize the illumination
