English: En el Ecuador habitan 14 nacionalidades y 18 pueblos indígenas. De estas, once nacionalidades y pueblos están en zonas fronterizas y siete son transfronterizas: Shuar, Achuar, Shiwiar, Andwa, Siekopa’i, Sápara y Kichwas, en la región amazónica.
Además de la región oriental o amazónica, las nacionalidades y los pueblos indígenas están en la región sierra norte y centro, en las provincias de Imbabura, Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Bolívar, Chimborazo y Cañar. Estos Pueblos y Nacionalidades, hablan diferentes lenguas y usan vestimentas confeccionadas por sus propios artesanos quienes usan materiales y diseños propios desde la época prehispánica. Estos son elementos diferenciadores de cada etnia.
