English: Col. Scott Jackson, commander, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, addresses those in attendance as the key-note speaker in an award ceremony for 36 Soldiers here at the Marne Gardens, March 24. The Soldiers were recognized for their contributions to the recently completed Army 2020 Physical Demands Study, a study that the Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, spearheaded for the 2nd ABCT, in conjunction with U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. The study’s purpose was to conduct a thorough evaluation, gathering as much scientific data as possible on what it takes to accomplish certain physically demanding tasks deemed inherent to four different combat military occupation specialties. The intent is to hopefully allow the Army to develop "gender neutral physical standards."
