Accession 67-148-A Seabag, USF Congress

Seabag, bag is hand stitched and pieced with applique decoration on the base. The bag dates from the early nineteenth century. The USF Congress depicted on the bag is the second frigate to be named Congress and is therefore circa 1842-1862. The bag is stitched with the name of the sailor who made the bag, "J.A. Fort."
