Ways to get involved
There are many ways to be involved in Structured Data on Commons:
- Uploading new, freely licensed files to Wikimedia Commons. You will be prompted to add multilingual file captions and depicts statements.
It's also possible to batch upload a large number of images and data at once. See Structured data/GLAM/Tools.
- Adding structured data to files, via tools such as AC/DC, Cat2Data, Depictor, Image Annotator, ISA, OpenRefine, QuickStatements and the SDC tool
This might be done through a campaign, as the Quality images supported by a Wikimedia chapter.
- Modeling structured data for files on Wikimedia Commons.
Discuss and decide how files must be described, at the Structured data page for Modeling.
- Keeping up with data already uploaded and available on Commons.
It's possible to use the Wikimedia Commons Query Service, a semantic query language for databases, to extract structured data on Commons.
This page is very active and frequently watched by many community members. Feel free to ask questions there.
