Commons:3D models
Current support
Commons currently enables upload of spatial media (other than geospatial data in tabular or map form) in a single media type,.stl
(see Commons:Project scope/Allowable file types); a growing category tree is developing for those files already uploaded. However, as the STL format was originally designed for computer-aided manufacturing (specifically, stereolithographic processes), the files are untextured and therefore cannot display colours or other modern material-rendering capabilities. Supporting other formats has been proposed.File extension ".stl" does not match the detected MIME type of the file (unknown/unknown).
