Journal des dames et des modes (1912-1914), was founded by Tom Antongini. The first issue appeared on 1 June 1912, the last on 1 August 1914 due to the outbreak of World War I. Subsequently the publication not only showcases Parisian culture of the time, it unwittingly reflects the end of the golden Belle Epoque, and the beginning of another very different time in world history. Each issue contained pochoir prints showing women – and sometimes children and men – wearing clothes created for the "Journal des Dames et des Modes", by leading commercial artists of the day. Most frequent in his appearance, and outstanding for the quality of his illustrations was George Barbier. Other artists included Leon Bakst, B. Berty, Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Roger Broders, Jan van Brock, Umberto Brunelleschi, H. Robert Dammy, Etienne Drian, Madeleine Franc-Nohain, J. Goie, Paul Iribe, Kriegck, Victor Lhuer, Pierre Legrain, Charles Martin, Fernand Siméon, Ismael Smith, Armand Vallée and Gerda Wegener. All together: 186 plates were published: numbered 1-184 and two unnumbered plates, with only 1279 copies per issue.
