History

The coastal transport ship Caprera (A 5349), built by Cantiere Mario Morini, has been launched on November 8, 1986 as MTC 1013. On April 10, 1987 was commissioned to the Italian Navy and based at La Maddalena; from February 24, 1988 was given the current name. Starting from November 1, 2001, was assigned to La Spezia Naval Command. The ship has been designed as auxiliary logistic support and fitted with a broad loading deck.
