The image stretches from Shedd Aquarium on the very left all the way to Navy Pier on the very right. The image is composed from 22 portrait shots taken with Sigma 150mm lens on a Canon EOS 5D. For assembly hugin/panotools were used, most of the keypoints were added manually. The extreme aspect ratio made a large amount of vertical guides necessary to ensure that the buildings do not tilt.
