English: I started beekeeping last year and am happy to report the bees have come through their first winter. Unseasonal weather at the moment in the UK (Feb 21) and the bees are loving it. So I popped out to the hive and recorded them today in slow motion.
I find it fascinating, watching them bustling into each other and bringing back loads of pollen (around the 2’50” mark you can see two of the bees collide mid-air). After seeing how busy they were at the entrance I made the decision to remove the mouse guard, though I am keeping the entrance reduced. I wasn’t planning on removing the mouse guard so soon but given the unseasonal weather I decided to. Deutsch: Ich habe letztes Jahr mit der Imkerei begonnen und freue mich, berichten zu können, dass die Bienen ihren ersten Winter überstanden haben. Das Wetter im Vereinigten Königreich ist im Moment (21. Februar) sehr untypisch und die Bienen lieben es. Also bin ich zum Bienenstock gegangen und habe sie (die Honigbienen Apis mellifera) heute in Zeitlupe aufgenommen. Ich finde es faszinierend, ihnen dabei zuzusehen, wie sie aufeinander losgehen und jede Menge Pollen mitbringen (bei etwa 2'50" kann man sehen, wie zwei Bienen mitten in der Luft zusammenstoßen). Nachdem ich gesehen hatte, wie beschäftigt sie am Eingang waren, beschloss ich, den Mäuseschutz zu entfernen, obwohl ich den Eingang weiterhin verkleinert habe. Ich hatte nicht vor, den Mäuseschutz so bald zu entfernen, aber angesichts des unbeständigen Wetters habe ich mich dazu entschlossen |
