Summary
Description |
English: This film shows on the right side the original Wikipedia W . The left side shows an optimization run, done with the help of the Geneva optimization library. 150 semi-transparent triangles overlaid in random order together form a random picture. The optimization algorithm (an evolution strategy in this case) modifies the coordinates, colors and translucency of the triangles in such a way that the deviation between candidate pictures and target picture is minimized. The quality measure that needs to be minimized is the sum of the per-pixel deviation of all color channels. In total, optimized values for 1500 free parameters need to be found. The algorithm thus has no knowledge about the subject of the optimization. The method used resembles an idea published by Roger Alsing in December 2008. |
