This ordering of the 4 layers is strictly the correct one: the Human-machine interface is between the Human and the Hardware!
Deutsch: Nutzung eines Rechners in Ebenen:
  1. Software in user mode (grün)
  2. Software in kernel mode (rot)
  3. Hardware (blau)
  4. Mensch (Benutzer, sandfarben)
Diese Anordnung der 4 Ebenen ist streng genommen korrekt: der Nutzer interagiert durchaus mit den (User-Mode) Programmen, in dieser Interaktion besteht ja der Zweck der Nutzung; und die Benutzungs-Schnittstellen dieser Programme müssen ergonomisch sein! Allerdings befindet sich Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstelle zwischen Mensch und Hardare (den Ein- und Ausgabegeräten, nicht dem Prozessor natürlich). Sämtliche Eingabesignale werden von den Gerätetreibern verarbeitet, welche i.d.R. teils des Kernels sind. Der Kernel gibt seinerseits die Eingabesignale weiter an die Usermode-Programme. Die Ausgabe verläuft ebenso: Usermode-Programme senden Anfragen an den Kernel (sie dürfen und können die Hardware nicht selbst ansprechen!) dieser verarbeitet diese und reicht sie ultimativ an die Gerätetreiber für die Ausgabegeräte weiter.
