Summary
Description |
English: A conceptual representation of the kinetic theory of fluids. In a perfect gas (shown left), the particles have no interaction apart from pure collisions. In a fluid close to a change of state (for example, water vapor close to condensation, shown center and right), the effect of mutual attraction on particles is important. If they are too slow (shown right), the molecules will group together in compact groups. This is the basic mechanism of liquefaction. |
