Context

Erling Mandelmann is a Danish photographer living in Switzerland. He worked for 40 years as a freelance photojournalist and portrait photographer for a number of Swiss and European publications, as well as for various international organizations.

Presentation

In September 2010, Erling Mandelmann contacted Wikimedia to offer a picture of Jan Tschichold, as the Wikipedia article about him was not illustrated at that point.

During the exchange with the Wikimedia volunteers, M. Mandelmann agreed to license all the low-resolution versions of his pictures displayed on his website under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license (CC-BY-SA 3.0).

In the following days, Wikimedia Commons volunteers batch-uploaded 631 photographs taken by Erling Mandelmann.
