File:Skin-Stealer OG.jpg

Insufficient licensing claim. The image may be under a commercial CC licensing as it was originally hosted on Backrooms wiki fandom. The monster may be under the same licensing, but the underlying image of the room/lobby may not be freely licensed. It is not one of the 110 images of 807 Oregon building renovation works that the copyright holder recently released as CC-0 on Internet Archive.

Without visible proof that the underlying image of the lobby/room is freely licensed (e.g. from a Wikimedia Commons / Flickr / Unsplash image), the true licensing status of this derivative image is unclear. See also this discussion. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 04:44, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

The Backrooms are a fictional concept. This artwork was made two years prior to the Oshkosh HobbyTown photo collection being released, at a time when the internet didn't even know where the original Backrooms photo came from. Even if such an image was made today, we should not be surprised or suspicious that it doesn't use an Oshkosh HobbyTown renovation photo. Belbury (talk) 07:09, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Be that as it may, the background photo for this image must have come from somewhere. Given the history of the project and the typical modus operandi of users contributing to it, I feel that there's a substantial chance that the background was a "found image" (i.e. a COM:NETCOPYVIO), rather than a photo taken by the creator of the image. Omphalographer (talk) 19:22, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
https://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com is actually unusually scrupulous about sourcing, for a fansite: they clearly have someone on the admin team who knows what they're doing and sees the value in respecting copyright and avoiding later takedown requests. The site has a "Licensing / Citation" link at the bottom of every page, and all of the photos of spooky corridors and tunnels that they use are taken from credited CC-licenced sources, often Flickr or Commons.
The idea that a Backrooms fan artist might snap a photo of a liminal-looking room in a school or office that they noticed, and use it for a background later on, doesn't seem at all unlikely. This also could be a purely digital model, with blur and grain added to make it look more natural. Belbury (talk) 07:12, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
Based from the available file info provided by the page itself:

Filename:
Name: Skin stealer
Author: garb
License: CC BY-SA 3.0
Source Link: http://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/local--files/entity-10/skinstealer.jpg

This is also the same file description in page 6 of the fandom wiki's masterlist of used files (currently, the "Entity 10" entry is listed under page 6). Unlike most other files, the claimed source is essentially the link to the article itself (not a link to a media repository site like Commons or Flickr). Incomplete description of the file, no other info whether the base image (of the room, excluding the monster) was CGI or obtained from freely-licensed Commons or Flickr or Internet Archive image. Lack of source info on this particular image breaches COM:EVIDENCE and COM:PCP. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 07:51, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
The entry below that on the masterlist ("The Squires") has the same licencing format and source link, and is clearly just a drawing that a user has made. It looks like some original artwork uploads are credited like that. If the artist took the Skin Stealer background photo themselves, or created it entirely digitally, then "Skin Stealer, own work, CC-BY-SA" would be a full and complete description and licence, they don't need to clarify that they drew the monster and also drew/photographed the background.
The Backrooms wiki has a strict and clear policy on only using free images: https://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/image-use-policy. There are multiple forum threads (eg. https://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-13396264) where non-free images are caught and replaced "per staff team and image team consensus". I'm not seeing any reason to suspect that they might not have enforced that policy here, for one of their top-rated pages. --Belbury (talk) 09:40, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

Oh. I first uploaded this logo in 2022, I didn't know how to properly format the description back then. I re-drew it exactly from this pin. I will add this as source. PLATEL (talk) 09:34, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Platel , do you know who is the original author of this logo ? Anatole-berthe (talk) 13:24, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
I made this vectorization from the pin myself. But I think that no one knows which specific factory produced this specific pin. In any case, the copyright should belong to the RSDLP. PLATEL (talk) 20:45, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
You said than you think that no one knows in which factory it was made.

Keep The photo has a {{CC-BY-SA-4.0}} license tag at its source. The Munich City Museum bought his archive in 1986, so it's plausible that they also acquired the rights and can attach CC licenses to the photos. --Rosenzweig τ 08:08, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
ok,
today reading this
