Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: Tagging "broken redirects" in the file namespace, as "broken" (they aren't really broken since they have no target) by CommonsDelinker. I currently have a script running daily to list such files at User:Hazard-Bot/Broken redirects (see its history for more details), but it would be better to just have the bot tag them than list them to be tagged/deleted.

Automatic or manually assisted: Automatic

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Daily

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute):Not necessary (few edits daily)

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): No

Programming language(s): Python

Discussion

  • Looks OK for me. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:34, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Tagging with a maintenance category? Yeah that looks cleaner than using a list page. Fine by me. --Dschwen (talk) 14:58, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
No, I meant tagging for speedy deletion (unless there is a better suggestion). Generally (or maybe in all cases), the file was renamed, then the renamed file deleted. When CommonsDelinker goes around making it's replacements, It changes "#REDIRECT [[File:Title.ext]]" to "#REDIRECT ", which is unusable, and in general, redirects to a deleted page should be deleted.  Hazard-SJ    02:07, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
Ok, sure. But commons delinker should be fixed sometime. --Dschwen (talk) 21:18, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

If there no objections, I think task should be approved. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:41, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
