Description

The results of this work could improve the current understanding of waste from durability in the Yucca Mountain Waste Repository.

PNNL is studying the molecular mechanism of hydrophobicity in uranium. Hydrophobicity, the condition of not binding to or dissolving in water(shown in photo) , might be a key reason that uranium deposits are stable for millions of years in nature.
