There's no COM:FOP Georgia. Using the category slideshow, I checked whether the file descriptions contained any indications about artists or creation dates. None did. So, unless it can be demonstrated that a statue creator has died before 1955, the nominees are to be deleted as copyvios. COM:De minimis is not applicable either, as the protected parts are main elements of the picture or referenced in the filename (File:Batumi2025statue-on-a-roof-with-almost-clean-sky.jpg and hence a deliberate depiction).

The fact that the file is categorised in some "Statues" category is not by itself a sufficient criterion for it to be considered a copyright violation, it only states that a statue is recognisable in the photo frame, but it may be far from prominent overall, just like in this case. No, it's not clearly a De minimis case, but a borderline one. The statue serves as prominent guide of the eye, it is consciously included in the composition, the average viewer would notice it missing. That are all points against De minimis. This is a textbook case of de minimis. The statues are incidental and occupy a small portion of the frame. The main subject of the image is the cityscape of Batumi, not the sculptures themselves. The photo documents the urban layout and atmosphere of the city, and the statues serve merely as part of the environment. Therefore, COM:DM applies, and the file should be kept. This statue is an enlarged reproduction of an ancient artifact — a gold lion figurine from the 3rd millennium BC (Trialeti culture, Kakheti, Georgia). The original is clearly in the public domain, and the statue itself does not demonstrate threshold of originality for modern copyright. The same lion appears on Georgian money (5 tetri coin, 1 lari bill) and is widely replicated in public monuments (e.g., Colchis Fountain in Kutaisi). FingerWiki (talk) 01:15, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Photo File:Batumi, Georgia (28323326231).jpg contains a monument to Memed Abashidze, which was made by Elguja Amashukeli in 1998, according to the sculptor's article in the Georgian Wikipedia. In the photos File:Batumi, Georgia - panoramio (77).jpg and File:Chavchavadze Monument Batumi.jpg a monument to Ilya Chavchavadze from 1982, the author of which is Vakhtang Davitaia, apparently. Per a concern at Commons:Village pump/Copyright/Archive/2025/06#Is this Doctor Who image derivative?, the exhibit is apparently a temporary event, and this is confirmed by w:en:Doctor Who exhibitions#The Doctor Who Experience (2012–2017). Not permanent in nature, and cannot benefit from the British Freedom of Panorama rule.

Additionally, per the enwiki article's first paragraph, "some have been intended to be permanent, and others seasonal; most have been staged at existing tourist locations. None are currently open to the public."

Keep, the image depicts the entry gate/archway for the Nanxiu Garden, one of the attractions in en:Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou. Although it is not in good quality (blurry and tilted angle), it is the only image related to Nanxiu Garden I can find in Commons, so I think there is educational value for that. I am not an expert in display colours so feel free to correct me if I am missing something, but looking at the code of this file and using the windows colour picker, I get red as fe0000, rgb(254, 0, 0) and yellow as fdfd00, rgb(253, 253, 0). A decade-old upload of Blantyre photo (uploaded here in 2012) is not likely to be the self-photographed image of George2100 (talk · contribs). Here are some evidences.

An apparently unedited version is found here (found via reverse image search using Google Lens), with credit "Original photograph © Frank M I Johnston,Central Africana Limited." Notice that in a closer inspection of the Commons upload, zooming the upper-right part of the image shows a thin, whitish line that is exact to the linear artifact in the alleged original image.
Google Lens search also brought me to this 2024 FB post, which shows a post card design of what appears to be an uncropped version of the unedited image. While the FB post credits "Thanks to Edmundo Sales", we can suspect that the netizen who contributed may had an access to a copy of the original version of the image, then edited to add postcard frame design.

In any case, we can infer in these findings that this 2012 upload by George2100 (talk · contribs) is NOT the self-photographed image of the uploader. This is likely grabbed from elsewhere, whether via online or by any means. Regular deletion request is opened instead of speedy deletion request, since my copyright violation allegation is not too obvious (only suspect), and that the image is heavily used in many Wikimedia sites. Two problems:

Non-incidental inclusion of Milad Tower, and Iranian copyright law does not contain any clause that states commercial distributions of images of copyrighted works are OK (no Freedom of Panorama, so to speak). Prior deletions include Commons:Deletion requests/Milad Tower and Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Milad Tower in 2011.
The object at the bottom foreground appears to be a creative installation or object (seems to be a lighting equipment but with artistic design). Again, no Freedom of Panorama in Iran permitting free distributions of copyrighted works in public spaces.

Non-incidental views of the buildings of w:en:Milad Hospital, located in Iran which does not have Freedom of Panorama for commercial uses of their public space works. The current building was inaugurated in 2001. Copyright lasts for 30 years after publication for corporate/legal works, as per COM:Iran#General rules, as long as the architect/s remain unknown as of this writing.

Abbey House is a private property occupied by individuals who are tenants. The Windhorse Trust is therefore the landlord with respect to the resident tenants and therefore has a duty of care towards our tenants who live there. This image of Abbey House Wikipedia page was uploaded by an a 3rd party (cmglee) who we have no relationship with. The photo listed is unauthorised and taken from a point of view within the private property, in addition the image clearly show the location of bedrooms, vulnerabilities for unauthorised access and generally a violation of the tenants’ right to privacy and security. We have attempted to contact cmglee directly via Wikipedia to no response effectively closing off this approach. Please arrange for this image to be removed on the basis that it represents an unauthorised violation of the privacy of those who are resident at Abbey House. Keep As per Commons:Freedom_of_panorama/Europe#United_Kingdom the United Kingdom has freedom of panorama which covers all buildings. Its being private property is no defence, especially since the Grade II listed building has historic significance which transcends the current owner's or residents' concerns. Furthermore, its design and construction in the 17th century nullifies any claims of artistic copyright. This is my last response on this matter. Keep. Dutch Wiktionary is using this picture to illustrate an abstract concept. An image that is understandable, but clearly not realistic, is helpful to indicate the abstractness. I agree that it seems likely given other images on the Flickr account, but I don't see anything on this one which conclusively indicates that this was the case, nor that it wasn't edited after being generated. I struggled with what to say, and how to enter it in the description when uploading an image. The file I made was modelled (with some small differences) after the flag in the video I mentioned in the Graphics Lab, by the Naval Historical Society of Australia, with a presentation by John Vaughan. The second source mentioned is the commercial website Australiana Flags which mentions the year it was made: 1996.

This John Vaughan profile site (i just discovered) confirms that he designed both flags. It even shows a possibly earlier version of the Scotland Island flag, than shown in the video and on Australiana Flags.

The flag of Wollongong has an Australian license description, which in 2018 could only be valid if the type of material (a flag) would fall in category D. (That's in line with the idea of basic elements design, Scottish flag + Southern cross.) It says that copy rights will expire when the material has been published 25 years ago.

As the flag of Scotland Island was from 1996, it should be copy right free since 2021. But I'm not a lawyer, so I can only presume, but not be certain about that. I'd hoped someone with more knowledge would have added the needed info. Maybe Alexphangia, thiscouldbeauser or Flagvisioner might know if this copy right license does indeed apply to this flag?

It seems that the 2x3 format of the flag is a naval flag, and 1x2 is a land flag in Australia. Should the size of the flag be altered to 1x2?

Copyright infringement. While hanafuda are public domain, Nintendo updated their card designs some time in the late 20th century, so the copyright of these particular drawings has not yet expired.
