Per this other DR discussion, the US trailer even still is a derivative of the UK work and belongs to the British Lion Films. No evidence of simultaneous release in the US within 30 days after first publication of the British film. No evidence of the US being the first before any other country, like the source country, the UK. Even when the URAA may be inapplicable, the UK law still applies. --George Ho (talk) 04:14, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Delete I agree, the US version was not released within 30 days, so the UK rules apply. --RAN (talk) 17:39, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Comment Yesterday i finished watching the theatrical release version and no scene features the sun god still (which first appeared in the 2013 final cut) from the US trailer.
- I request to remove File:The Wicker Man (1973) US trailer - Nuada.png from the deletion request.--Mayimbú (talk) 00:54, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Mayimbú Just because the sun god doesn't appear in the final cut? Fat chance! What you're requesting seems far-fetched, isn't it? This doesn't change the fact that the image appeared in the US trailer. The main issue is the trailer's and the screenshots' copyright status, not appearance itself in the final cut of the film. George Ho (talk) 01:33, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- Read again. The sun god is included in the US trailer but not in any released version of the film until the 2013 final cut. The copyright status for this particular screenshot applies for US law due to not being one used in the released film itself (hence why the other screenshots do not apply for US law). --Mayimbú (talk) 02:43, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- The whole trailer is still a derivative of the British film, despite the sun god image not appearing in the final cut until 2013. The sun god part may have been original and an American ploy just to thrill moviegoers into seeing the movie and anticipating the sun god. Nonetheless, even the sun god itself is still part of the (US trailer) derivative, and even the lack of the copyright notice won't change the trailer's and screenshots' non-compliance with the project (and copyright status, especially in the UK). just a click; like the other audio files in Category:Audio files of brain, just polluting categories and making them near useless Prototyperspective (talk) 12:03, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- I am unsure but I will make a case for this 1-second, single click audio. It is from the 2011 scientific paper https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0020162 and part of a set of other click sounds. This particular click was a tool used in the research, and in that context, that scientific paper must have it documented somehow and associated with the paper for scientific reproducibility.
- The original paper has 13 audio files associated with it. They are all documented with human-written prose explanations. I checked a few, and outside the context of the research, the ones I checked where just clicks.
- For reusability in Wikimedia Commons or elsewhere, this audio file has low value. Historically it could have some higher value, especially in the contemporary context that scientific papers before 2011 could not easily include supplementary audio files, and almost never included anything with Creative Commons licensing.
- I agree with @Prototyperspective: that if we have a lot of these audio files, then it only pollutes the category. I do not think we need more such examples. I think it makes sense to keep some example of science files from the 2010s, considering how unusual that practice was at that time. This could be that example, then we make a note that the category does not need more of the same. Bluerasberry (talk) 15:46, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

- The same image has repeatedly been deleted for copyright reasons under the name File:Flag of ASEAN.svg, latest after discussion here. The ASEAN website explicitly claims copyright over the design. Some of the images listed in the 'Other versions' section on this page should probably also be copyvio deleted. --TU-nor (talk) 15:31, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- ASEAN's headquarters are in Jakarta, so I presume that COM:TOO Indonesia applies. And if you understand the twaddle at that link (what the hell is the "Anglo-American model" of TOO?), please edit it so that the rest of us can understand it. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:18, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Weak kept I believe ASEAN's copyright over flag did not provided with any evidence regarding its copyright registration (which deem necessary in the United States). So, regardless of ASEAN's copyright claim, if it didn't provided concrete copyright evidences (including URAA and copyright registration numbers), this image should be kept at Commons, and the seal of ASEAN emblem should be deleted locally at Wikipedia. Even if it was deleted at Commons and kept as local file (remember, ASEAN was headquartered in Jakarta, so only TOO-Indonesia applies here), it should be tagged as PD-ineligible-USOnly or similar due to no concrete evidences regarding URAA copyright claim for ASEAN. 120.188.39.184 02:57, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- Copyright registration is not necessary for copyright in the U.S., but how do you figure this flag is below COM:TOO Indonesia? That page does not tell us enough information for me to be able to judge whether the flag is OK for Commons to host or not. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:00, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Delete, per Commons:Deletion requests/File:Flag of ASEAN.svg and ASEAN's copyright statement over their flag. English Wikipedia can locally host this flag under free licensing, because they have to follow US laws only and has no obligation to follow foreign laws, like Indonesian laws. WikiCommons has to follow Indonesian laws. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 13:43, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
Delete I'd also comment that Indonesia has a very low threshold of originality, as sourced from COM:TOO Indonesia: "Indonesia's threshold of originality is reportedly low, being based on common law ("Anglo-American model") principles, with "wallpaper, wrappers, packaging designs and technical drawings" being registered by copyright authorities"
- Even though this is probably free in the US due to a very high TOO, (so it can be locally hosted on the English Wikipedia), it isn't the same for Indonesia and Commons also relies on source country law. VTSGsRock (talk) 02:24, 20 May 2025 (UTC)

- @HeminKurdistan, it seems you are intentionally trying to flag and specifically target some of my recent uploads that may go against your views, by trying to abuse the "nomination for deletion" process. I respect your personal views and understand your actions. I also respect your work at Tasnim News, a sanctioned news agency known for spreading fake information and violating serious human rights in Iran, other than being directly owned and funded by the IRGC (a designated terrorist organization).
- Regardless, I would like to mention few points:
- Source is provided in the “summary” section. More specific details can or will be added upon request (FYI: most of these files have come directly from the Supreme Leader's website (Khamenei.ir), which is under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.)
- These files are not derivative art works. These are statements or part of a speech, directly given by the commanders and key members of your favorite organization and the Supreme Leader himself.
- Wikipedia (and Commons) is a neutral platform. It is not a place to censor or hide free speech. Sharing or showing these videos were totally fine a few years ago, until their words turned out to be totally wrong or absolute contradiction? Are you trying to hide these by misusing the "nomination for deletion" policy, by any chance?
- These videos have been shared on local and foreign online platforms numerous times. Ironically, it was the government and its supporters who were sharing these videos back then.
- Iran is well-known for routinely violating the international copyright laws and it is one of the few countries that does not participate in any major international copyright treaties:
- The Government of the Islamic Republic is also known to be directly involved in pirating and the sale of counterfeit goods, illegal copies of software, video games, movies, books, and patent infringement of local and foreign manufacturers' products. . For instance, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), which is directly owned and annually funded for billions of dollars by the government, frequently violates international copyright laws by pirating and illegally broadcasting the Champions League and European soccer league (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, etc.) games on its channels every week. Is that also something that you may be interested to discuss, talk, or even care about at all?
- As mentioned, I understand these uploaded files may have upset you. However, these same videos have been shown and nationally broadcasted numerous times by your own government on its TV channels (IRIB), local, and foreign platforms before. Og007 04:52, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Unless there is a proof that this file (which is found elsewhere on the internet) is a work by Tasnim's staff, this file should not be assumed to be freely-licensed.
