Most likely previously published on Facebook: FBMD transmission codes seen at the metadata of these images (under "Special Instructions" field). Proof of identity verification of the true copyright holder (the photographer) via email correspondence is required for images previously published on social media so to confirm if the uploader is indeed the photographer (the copyright holder) of these images and that the photographer (the copyright owner) has applied the license as indicated, as there have been numerous cases on Wiki before (and up to now) that the uploaders just grabbed images from Facebook or other social media sites. For email template, see COM:VRTS#Email message template for release of rights to a file. Better still, have the originals overwrite these social media platform-derived images, if the images are truly self-photographed works of the uploader.

Weak keep This is a 1951 work by an unknown author. I conclude that the sculptor is unknown based on the fact that they are not mentioned in the official cultural heritage passport of this monument. The passport can be found here. Nor is the author named in this extremely detailed reference work (on the cemetery all those monuments are located on) by the journalist and editor of the science magazine Nauka i Zhizn, w:ru:Кипнис, Соломон Ефимович, which I have found to be an even better source on the sculptors than the official cultural heritage passports. So, as a work of an anonymous author that has been published in 1951, this monument should fulfill the requirements of {{PD-Russia}}. Nakonana (talk) 10:51, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Weak keep This is a 1950 work by an unknown author or by the Ministry of Defence of the USSR (as per the inscription on the monument itself). This extremely detailed reference work (on the cemetery all those monuments are located on) by the journalist and editor of the science magazine Nauka i Zhizn, w:ru:Кипнис, Соломон Ефимович, which I have found to be an even better source on the sculptors than the official cultural heritage passports does not mention any author either. So, as a work of an anonymous author that has been published in 1950, this monument should fulfill the requirements of {{PD-Russia}}. And I've read somewhere that collective state works of state entities of the USSR are also somehow not copyrighted? But don't quote me on that one. Nakonana (talk) 11:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Info sculptor: Н.Маркова, see . Unfortunately, there are too many artists with the name "N.Markova", so I can't determine which one of them it is. This site lists three, of which I can exclude one with certainty because she was born in 1975, while the monument is a 1961 work. The other two are listed as "2D" artists, so, likely rather painters than sculptors. Nakonana (talk) 20:40, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Doesn't look like he participated in the Great Patriotic War, he seemingly worked as an academic/artist during the time, or at least the ruwiki article doesn't mention any military service as far as I've seen skimming through it. The Wikidata item on him also says that copyright has expired. Nakonana (talk) 15:54, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Keeping all files (for now) except for the 3 files that have been identified as problematic, and then the other files could be renominated for deletion (where appropriate) but in small batches to make things better manageable. Nakonana (talk) 19:04, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
keep all files. I fully agree with @Nakonana. This massive deletion request should be closed by an Admin with instructions for resubmission of deletion requests in small batches with similar reasons for nominations. Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 22:10, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
keep all files. This is a completely unwieldy DR. Clearly no research done before nominating. I'm sure quite a few of these merit deletion (with different undeletion dates, or for some no known undeletion date), but this DR is not the vehicle to accomplish that. If someone wants to work on this, turn the list above into a list of what needs to be looked at, and start nominating what is actually likely to be copyrighted (e.g. any work after 1954, any work where we have reason to believe the artist lived past 1958 given the extensions for the war years). If we can identify multiple works as being by the same artist, those can be grouped. - Jmabel ! talk 04:14, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- This isn't the first statement encouraging irresponsible huge uploads. According to users like you, the fault lies not with the person uploading hundreds or thousands of images without checking their copyright status, but with the person discovering them. And COM:EVID + COM:PCP are seem to be not valid when reading comments like yours. Well, let's wait until someone is willing to spend a week of their life processing something that took half an hour to upload. In the meantime, let the obvious copyright violations stay on WM Commons. A good illustration of a quote from a movie: "These days, you can steal a bicycle and lose all your health in prison, or you can steal by the carload and always stay afloat". Quick1984 (talk) 04:53, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- You know admins can't just delete files "per nomination" at face value. There have been enough DRs that have resulted in the nominated files being kept to know that not all nominations have merit. So, it's the closing admin who will have to "to spend a week of their life" to process this DR if they want to close it correctly, because they make the final decision and their decision is under scrutiny, so they surely want to avoid mistakes. But as you kind of admit yourself, this DR is too big to process, and that's why such massive DRs usually result in a procedural closure. If you don't want this DR to be "just closed with all files kept", then feel free to help identifying what actually needs to be deleted, what can be kept, and when the problematic can be undeleted. Otherwise you'll just end up having to renominate all the files again. And yes, it's also expected that the nominating party puts some work into their nomination, because you have to provide good reason to delete the files after all. My initial check did not provide me with much confidence that the mass nomination was valid. Sure, it ended up not being representative of the DR, but it still provided enough doubt in the validity of some of the nominated files. I've found an excellent reference work for this, so, if you can read Russian, be my guest, and join in in sorting through the list, if you want this DR to result in anything other than a procedural closure. Nakonana (talk) 12:26, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Also, I see that you have changed the formatting and have removed the table columns now, thank you for that, this definitely makes this DR better readable on mobile. And I've seen that you have started to add correcting statements and some other maintenance stuff, so thanks too for joining in and helping in processing this DR. Maybe we can make to result in something other than just a procedural close. Nakonana (talk) 12:34, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

- Absolutely ungrounded assumption, especially for a user, who makes definitely false assumptions even when knows when the sculptor died (see below). Quick1984 (talk) 12:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Nakonana, you have done a lot of work, at least enough to finally make this nomination bulky and unreadable, while most of your findings indicate the need for deletion, and some of your comments are clearly false, such as the conclusions about the works of w:ru:Мухина, Вера Игнатьевна or w:ru:Меркуров, Сергей Дмитриевич. Read COM:Russia#Durations again, it's not about military service only, it was enough to work during WWII to have those 70+4 years. Quick1984 (talk) 04:40, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- The DR was very unreadable from the start, especially if you edit on mobile like I do. The likeliest outcome for such a massive DR is usually a procedural closure with all files kept and the instructions to nominate in smaller batches. With the information provided, at least some files can be handled properly now without having to go through another DR cycle.
- And while most findings indicate that the files need deletion, there are still some PD files that have been caught up in the nomination, and it would also be good if we knew when to undelete all the other files.
- For durations and stuff, I'm not 100% savvy on the exact regulations that's why I leave it to the admins to make the last call, and use phrasings like "should be in the public domain" instead of "is in the public domain". I also don't make statements like "undelete in xxxx" for the same reasons. If you want to make the closing admin's work easier and are familiar with the exact duration then feel free and add the relevant "undelete in xxxx" categories to this DR. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
I am the uploader of these files and a new user on Wikimedia Commons. I was not fully aware of the scope and content policies when I uploaded them, and I sincerely apologize if they did not meet the required standards.
Since then, I have carefully read the guidelines, and I now understand how important it is to keep content educational, neutral, and within scope. I am committed to revising the descriptions and formatting the files properly.
If allowed, I would like to keep the files and rework them to align with Commons standards. I truly appreciate your understanding and am open to any suggestions for improvement.
Thank you again.

- While I do understand the concern, Commons does not determine the notability of subjects across other Wikimedia projects. As long as the corresponding Wikidata item exists and is not deleted, the files can be considered "in scope" per COM:SCOPE. If the images are deleted now, but the item remains, they could be reuploaded later by someone seeking to illustrate that item—since that would constitute a valid use. In that sense, local notability decisions rest with the project maintaining the item, not Commons. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 19:43, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- That's funny: Wikidata items usually don't get deleted as long as there are link-connections to wikis like Commons, and here on Commons you won't delete it because there exists a Wikidata item. Well, next time such a thing happens I will not start a DR but delete directly per CSD#F10. --Achim55 (talk) 12:50, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
