Description |
Die Ruine lieg oberhalb des Ortes Alken an der Mosel. Die Anlage wurde vermutlich von Pfalzgraf Heinrich I der Lange zwischen 1198 und 1208 gebaut. Da ab der Mitte des 13 Jhd die beiden Erzbistümer Trier und Köln gleichzeitig Besitzer der Burg waren kam es zu einer Kuriosität: Es befanden sich zwei Burggrafen auf der Anlage. Beide hatten einen eigenen Palas und einen eigenen Bergfried sowie eigene Wirtschaftsgebäude. Ausserdem waren beide Bereiche durch eine eigene Wehrmauer mitten durch die Burg abgeteilt. |
