English: Occasionally, every form of German blackletter handwriting is called Sütterlin script. This is probably because the Sütterlin script is the form of German blackletter handwriting whose name is best known. Nevertheless, this term is inaccurate, since German blackletter handwriting already existed long before Ludwig Sütterlin.

Biſweilen [wrong "ſ", it must be "Bisweilen"] wird jede Form der deutſchen Kurrentſchrift als Sütterlinſchrift bezeichnet. Dies liegt wohl daran, daß die Sütterlinſchrift diejenige Form der deutſchen Kurrentſchrift iſt, deren Name am bekannteſten iſt. Trotzdem iſt dieſe Bezeichnung unzutreffend, denn es gab die deutſche Kurrentschrift schon lange vor Ludwig Sütterlin. |
