The oscillating wavefuntion ψ[x,t] = Aeiφ is displayed in complex color, where brightness denotes log[amplitude A] and hue (color) denotes deBroglie phase φ.

Note how the wave packet has smaller position-spread Δx in the center where the momentum spread Δp = Δ(h/λ) is larger, and vice versa.
