English: Flag of Normandy inspired by the nordic flags, created by Jean Adigard des Gautries in 1937 to remember the history of Normandy. This kind of cross is called Nordic cross or Scandinavian cross. The Nordic cross flag of Normandy is called Cross of Saint Olaf. Olaf II of Norway was baptised in Rouen in 1014 by Robert (II) the danish, archbishop of Rouen and brother of Richard II of Normandy, Duke of Normandy. .
The traditional banner of Normandy( French region) is two yellow lions on red.
Français : Drapeau de la Normandie, créé en 1937 par Jean Adigard des Gautries dans le but de rappeler les origines nordiques de la Normandie. La croix nordique (ou croix scandinave) est présente sur l'ensemble des drapeaux des pays nordiques. Le drapeau normand à croix nordique est appelé Croix de Saint-Olaf en référence à Olaf II de Norvège baptisé en 1014 à Rouen par Robert le danois, frère du duc de Normandie. |
