English: The following is an animation depicting how the wave packet of a quantum particle can be split up (not shown) into two packets which are recombined afterwards (shown). In this case the interference of the particle with itself can be observed. The color (yellow green blue) indicates the phase of the wave function $\psi$ , its intensity indicates $\|\psi \|^{2}$ .
