This image depicts a symbol expressing opposition to totalitarian regimes (such as a crossed-out swastika or hammer and sickle). While intended as a critique, it contains elements that may be legally restricted in certain jurisdictions.
  • In Germany, the use of insignia of organizations that have been banned (such as the NSDAP/Nazi Party) is generally prohibited under paragraph 86a of the criminal code (StGB). However, according to the Federal Court of Justice ruling of 2007, symbols clearly expressing opposition to Nazism (like crossed-out swastikas) are legal.
  • In Poland, Art. 256 of the criminal code (Dz.U. 1997 nr 88 poz. 553) prohibits the promotion of Nazi, Communist or other totalitarian regimes. However, the use of these symbols for artistic, educational, collecting or academic purposes – including the expression of anti-totalitarian views – is permitted by law.
