Mtvdanilo

Hello, I found some classic Brazilian samba songs available in the public domain through the Moreira Salles Institute. I would like to upload them, they are in .mp3 format.Thank you. Mtvdanilo (talk) 13:07, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Sound recordings are often trickier than other media because of multiple copyrights. In the case of this 1941 sound recording, Dizem que sou um mau rapaz, the composition may be public domain (would need confirmation on who composer was). Francisco Alves died in 1952 so his performance rights would be expired. So it does indeed appear to be public domain in Brazil. But since 1941 sound recordings are still protected in the United States until 2042, they aren't PD in the US yet. Abzeronow (talk) 18:13, 22 June 2025 (UTC)

LosPajaros

Hello, I would like to request autopatrol rights so that I can update the File:Betty Ford.gif with a higher resolution file I have found from the White House Historical Association website. While the file on the website itself is in the .jpeg format I currently have it converted to a .gif format to conform with the file requirements.  Preceding unsigned comment added by LosPajaros (talk  contribs) 04:22, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi @LosPajaros, you could do that by a request at COM:OWR. The only problem one can have with granting you this right is the long history of redlinks in your talk page archives, though the last batch is 9 months old. Can you tell us that you've understood where things went wrong for you back then? Shaan SenguptaTalk 04:31, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
I've enabled overwriting on the file (although I'd suggest uploading a png version of this file too). You had three blocks in 2021, and some more recent deletions over sound files that weren't actually from federal employees. So I am feeling cautious about this request. 2023 block for unfree files, activity since then seems to be fine. Inclined to grant if no objections. Abzeronow (talk) 21:28, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Faster than Thunder

Hi, I would like to request autopatrol rights so that I can upload recordings of myself, such as saying Vietnamese phrases like "không có đậu phộng", which will go to English Wikivoyage.
Your edit count is a bit low. You can use .ogg or .flac for recordings but I think you'd be trustworthy enough to be able to upload mp3s. So I'll just wait a bit until you're over 200 edits. Abzeronow (talk) 01:32, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

EgePro31

Dear Wikimedia Commons Administrators,

I am writing to respectfully re-apply for Autopatrol rights on Wikimedia Commons. My username is EgePro31.

I acknowledge that my previous application was declined due to reasons such as a relatively low edit count and a need for deeper understanding of certain policies, particularly regarding copyright and file overwriting (COM:OVERWRITE). Since then, I have been actively working on improving my contributions and ensuring full compliance with Wikimedia Commons policies.

I am pleased to inform you that my total contribution count has significantly increased, and I now have **308 edits/uploads** on the platform. This demonstrates my continued dedication and engagement with the project. Furthermore, I have also taken on the role of a **translator on Wikimedia Commons**, contributing to making content accessible to a wider international audience, which I believe adds valuable support to the community.

I am committed to uploading high-quality, properly licensed, and policy-compliant files. My aim is to reduce the workload of patrollers by ensuring my uploads require minimal review, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks. I have carefully reviewed the relevant policies and am confident in my ability to contribute effectively and responsibly.

Thank you for your time and consideration of my re-application. I am eager to continue contributing positively to Wikimedia Commons.

Sincerely,

EgePro31 (Çınar Ege) EgePro31 (talk) 14:13, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

  •  Oppose You'd usually require more than 500 helpful edits on Wikimedia Commons. Sev6nWiki (talk) 15:45, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
Ok EgePro31 (talk) 04:01, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
  •  Not done @EgePro31 let me get somethings straight. These long AI-generated requests won't help. You were declined just a few days ago. You have literally raced to the 300-mark. I would suggest you to make useful contributions which aren't out of project scope like your uploads. Repeated requests without any improvement might compel the community to impose sanctions for this page on you. Shaan SenguptaTalk 08:11, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
Ok but where i see my helpful edits? EgePro31 (talk) 09:28, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
You can see all your contributions to Wikimedia Commons here, but there is no accurate way to filter for helpful edits.
Bot-like edits are usually referred to contributions which consist of low bytes count (<250) and inserting simple templates like {{Copyvio}} and {{Delete}}, but the usefulness of edits judging by byte size isn't accurate alone. Sev6nWiki (talk) 13:44, 20 July 2025 (UTC)

Vanderwaalforces

Coupled with my work at English Wikipedia, I always come across images (I didn't upload) I need to overwrite, too often to always be requesting being able to overwrite each file, I found out being autopatrolled would help me. I do not currently have up to 500 edits, and I think the reason for that bar is experience which I do think I have being experienced right here and on English Wikipedia. I would love an admin to make an exception because my stress would be eased, I have also overwritten a few files in the past for references purpose. Thank you. Have you read and understood COM:OW? Abzeronow (talk) 23:15, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

I formerly had these rights. I also have AWB rights on the English Wikipedia (where I also serve as template editor, pending changes reviewer and rollbacker ), so I'm quite experienced with it. I'd like to help more here as well. Thank you. Daniele Fisichella 09:15, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
I  Support this suggestion. Incall talk 19:26, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
What do you need it for? AWB access had been revoked because of cosmetic only edits. One of the latest was . --Achim55 (talk) 19:25, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
That was not the case, as I already explained back then: that edit was part of a series, and the cosmetic part was minimal. I do not need it tho. I just offered my availability to help, my experience and my knowledge of semi-automated systems like AWB. If you need help, here I am. Daniele Fisichella 13:00, 14 June 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request the filemover right because I want to help more on Commons, and it seems to me that the filemover right would be a great way to do that. I know I have barely made any rename requests, but I have read the guideline well and properly- if rejected, then someone suggest where it might be easy to find files needing renaming? Also most of my uploads were very early, so I just uploaded them with their name from flickr- I now know that I should chosen way more informative names for them. Thank you. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:25, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I trust you, but we need to ensure that the renaming follows all the rules. Incall talk 15:34, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm making RR's for some of my flickr uploads right now(maybe I should do it for all of them, but they are many, and most are unlikely to be used). I will also try to find other images to show that I understand all the rules and not just rule 2. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:38, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Are the RRs I have made in the past week enough to show I know the rules? DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 08:23, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello @DoctorWhoFan91, as you said as well as what I can see, you have just one renaming request till date. I would suggest you make some more successful requests and gain some experience. We can keep this open for (maybe) a week if you are willing. Shaan SenguptaTalk 15:35, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, I will start with finding images which need renaming and make RRs from them. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:39, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
@DoctorWhoFan91 there you go. The names you are suggesting are better than the current version but not the best. What's TST? Noone knows it like that. See what I used to carry it out. Shaan SenguptaTalk 15:51, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Yeah- I was going for concise as it's likely only chess editors will use these files. Perhaps your way is better- I made the latest RR your way. Thank you. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 15:58, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I see some good renaming, and some renaming that tends to initialize Doctor Who and series that may not readily identifiable as from Doctor Who. So I feel ambivalent about granting. Abzeronow (talk) 20:26, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
I have been trying to have a balance of conciseness and informative- hence the initalisation of Doctor Who- looks like it is a short form for something- and so even a non-fan can look in the description for more information. Even the guideline states that we shouldn't try to fit everything in the title, as that's what the description is for. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 12:05, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
the guideline states that we shouldn't try to fit everything in the title. Agreed. But that doesn't mean that the name doesn't help in identifying the subject in the file. This is exactly what I flagged earlier. Shaan SenguptaTalk 12:24, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Yes, but it does identify the subject enough- it's from something DW, which is most likely some kinda of media- so any person can check in the description what media it is. DoctorWhoFan91 (talk) 16:15, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
I would also say that I changed up the chess renames when you stated that they weren't informative enough to a non-fan. No such change was asked for by any filemover in any of my requested moves- so given what info I had- I assumed it striked a balance. You can see I do not abbreviate location names if I ask for a move of file that involves non-fictional elements- as any abbreviations might be confusing given the high number of locations in the world. Kaim Amin

I need to move numerous files from this cat with names starting with 'inbound'. Thanks. Kaim (talk) 08:46, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
@Kaim Amin, why did you get indefinitely blocked on bn.wikipedia.org? Kadı Message 12:46, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
@Kadı, Basically, one admin suspected I was doing promotion by adding two images on POTD templates. I filed a case request on metawiki, where U4C members are waiting for his response. I don't want any nonsensical controversy to affect my contribution on commons. Kaim (talk) 13:01, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Sinigh

I've only requested 79 file moves so far and I would like to do a lot more, but I don't want to flood admins and filemovers with requests, which is why I've ended up only requesting moves sporadically. But since I'm obviously interested in correcting and (if needed) improving file names, I believe I should make myself useful instead of shying away from it. I've read Commons:File renaming and related policies, and will be returning to them. Thank you! Sinigh (talk) 18:12, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
FYI: I'm currently travelling and will be away for the rest of the month, but if anyone has any questions during this time, I'll respond as soon as I'm able to. Sinigh (talk) 09:56, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Alavense

I understand the criteria and I have made some requests myself which have then been carried out by other users. I believe I could make good use of the right. Thank you. Alavense (talk) 04:24, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
