- This one shows the smallest amount of the building. If the flags themselves aren't copyright problems, how much further do you think this has to be cropped to be OK for Commons to host? If we saw only one story, would that be OK? I think it might already be de minimis, but I don't know how strict French law is on that. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:50, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Keep, The flag is below the Commons:Threshold of originality. This cropped photo elements are 6 full windows and walls surrounding these windows. Windows are created by corporations for use in any building- they are utilitarian, therefore not copyright elements. The walls are a extremely small portion of a building and is de minimis per Commons:De minimis. -- Ooligan (talk) 16:12, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

Keep the graphic work isn't taken out of context, it's just part of the façade. Rkieferbaum (talk) 10:47, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Keep According to COM:DM UK, Copyright in a work is not infringed by its incidental inclusion in an artistic work, sound recording, film, or broadcast. It is clear from the shot title, composition, and (especially) the positioning of the lighting pole, that this is an image of the airport terminal building that incidentally includes an advertising poster. If the photographer was intending to photograph the poster, it would have been trival to compose and crop the shot to exclude the building and lighting pole; the fact they have not done so shows that was not the intent. -- Chris j wood (talk) 11:06, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

- Non-commercial research is that which is not for direct or indirect economic advantage. Commercial research would probably include, for example, research for the production of commercial training materials; research for paying clients; research for a book for which payment will be received

- Hi @SuperWIKI: , to be honest I tend to semi-automatically request for deletion all files that are not of real-world parliament, given that fantasy diagrams are very often created by throw-away accounts for nationstates.net or similar projects. I did not specifically study your image.
- Do you plan on using this image for a specific purpose ? Because there are many free image hosting tools on the internet (Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, Imgur...)Tpe.g5.stan (talk) 14:28, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- I have a full sandbox page in place that I've been working on for some time. I've been using research from The Almanac of American Politics and historical blogs to learn about U.S. senators and their achievements, and assigning the most influential ones from each state into one body. While there are image hosting tools on the Internet, the set-up on my Wikipedia sandbox (which to my understanding is meant for experimentation) is heavily reliant on political party templates and diagrams built into the site.
- As for the specific image, it is meant to display political party and faction distribution for my sandbox. I have no plans to use it on any other site. SuperWIKI (talk) 14:52, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

- Julius Rosenberg was the owner and photographer of the E. Bieber studio in Berlin starting in 1910, per de:Leonard Berlin-Bieber. I have tried to find birth and death dates for him but had no success so far. The name is not that rare, and most Internet search results are about the Soviet spy of the same name who was executed in the US in the 1950s. --Rosenzweig τ 07:47, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

- The Senatorenalbum is the book where all Senators of the Freien und Hansestadt Lübeck are honored untill the end of the Eigenstaatlichkeit of Lübeck. It exists since 1848 and became part of Schleswig-Holstein in 1937. Every new Senator, take a look at de:Liste der Lübecker Senatoren, got a place as they've been voted. e. g. - As Rosenzweig says, the Sieveking photo is already in the Undelete in 2033 because I had put it there as soon as it was established that Bieber was the photographer. I do care about restoring what is deleted (I also try to restore usage of files after I undelete them), even if it doesn't appear as such. As I mentioned to Yann on my talk page in discussing the photo, I am willing to upload a local copy to enwiki since enwiki only cares about US copyright. Abzeronow (talk) 22:16, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

- You call it a "book", but say nothing about publication. So it is not a publication, but some kind of photo album? Or hand-written book because photographs were not yet common in 1848? And where do the years 1893, 1896, "before 1897" etc. come from? You make a lot of claims, but it's not really clear what they are based on. --Rosenzweig τ 17:53, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

- The Senatorenalbum is the book where all Senators of the Freien und Hansestadt Lübeck are honored untill the end of the Eigenstaatlichkeit of Lübeck. It exists since 1848 and became part of Schleswig-Holstein in 1937. Every new Senator, take a look at de:Liste der Lübecker Senatoren, got a place as they've been voted. e. g. File:HL Damals – Lübecker Senatorenalbum – Wilhelm Brehmer.jpg. Your hated File is from 1896. e. g. de:Carl Alfred Brattström . voted 1892, left 1899 for his work and died in 1911. 1970gemini (talk) 17:12, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- @1970gemini: File:HL Damals – Lübecker Senatorenalbum – Emil Ferdinand Fehling.jpg says "before 1897" (not 1893), and I don't see a source for that date. The source for the photograph is named as "Lübecker Senatorenalbum". Is that a publication, or what is it? --Rosenzweig τ 16:32, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
- It has been made before 1893 in E. Bieber, Berlin. The original File:HL Damals – Lübecker Senatorenalbum – Emil Ferdinand Fehling.jpg was around, as you may easy see, 1893. FYI: de:Emilie Bieber. 1970gemini (talk) 08:45, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Comment The uploader apparently thinks that the photo, though published in 1913, was actually taken in 1896, based on the fact that it is apparently part of an (unpublished) album collecting the photos of Lübeck's senators, arguing that those photos were usually made when or shortly after these persons became senators. In this case, in 1896. He also argues that there is apparently another photo of the man from 1913 or later (photographed wearing some special garb created for a centennial celebration in 1913) which he says is very different. So the 1896 date is based on comparisons and the assumption that the photo was made shortly after becoming a senator.
- If that is correct and the photo was made in 1896 by E. Bieber in Berlin, the photographer would presumably be Leonard Berlin-Bieber, who died in 1931. I don't see any real evidence though. There may be some, but I don't see it in the uploader's contributions. It's hard enough to get any facts from these rambling answers anyway. --Rosenzweig τ 06:50, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

For photographs by Jeff Walters for the California State Legislature, more specifically those that have "Copyright holder" in the metadata as "Jeff Walters". Walters is a freelance photographer who has worked with the California State Legislature as an official photographer, but {{PD-CAGov}} specifically says "Works that are considered "public records" but were not created by a state or municipal government agency may be copyrighted by their author". Somewhat similar of a situation to Marc Thomas Kallweit, another freelance photographer who did work for the State Legislature (see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Curt hagman.jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Scottwilk portrait2013.jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Travis Allen California Assemblyman.jpg).
